The 2018 MCM Event Schedule will include 14 different running challenges over six weekends starting in March and concluding in November. As runners wrap up 2017 and set new goals for the upcoming year, here are some important things to know about the 2018 MCM event calendar.

-Registration platform change. The MCM is switching registration platforms. This has resulted in a rescheduled opening of registration for the 2018 Historic Half Weekend that includes the Half, Semper 5ive and Devil Dog Double. Originally slated to open during MCM Week in October, registration for Historic Half events will now begin on January 17 with the debut of the new platform.

-New 8K in June. The MCM Event Series will introduce a new 8K event on the same day as Run Amuck, the three-mile mud and obstacle challenge, on June 23. The 4.97 mile event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Battle of Belleau Wood that occurred about 30 miles from Paris. The three-week battle with the Germans would prove to be a defining moment for the U.S. Marine Corps. It was here that the Marines earned the nickname of “Devil Dogs.”

-Larger field for Devil Dog Double. After its exciting debut at the 2017 Historic Half, the Devil Dog Double will expand the field and add more registration spots in 2018. The event, to be held on May 20, challenges runners to scale Hospital Hill twice by completing the Semper 5ive in a 10 minute-per-mile pace before turning around and running the Historic Half. One day. Two distances. Three medals.

-Distinguished Participant eligible events. The coveted “Semper Fidelis” Distinguished Participant medal can be earned by registering and completing a very specific schedule of MCM events in 2018. To qualify for this very exclusive recognition, runners must finish an event during Historic Half Weekend (either the Half, Semper 5ive or Devil Dog Double); the Belleau Wood 8K or Run Amuck in June; the Quantico Tri or 12K in August; and the Turkey Trot 10K or Mile in November.
