Benefit Now from Marine Corps Historic Half’s Lower Registration Cost

The tenth anniversary of the Marine Corps Historic Half will draw thousands of runners to historic Fredericksburg, VA for the event on May 21, 2017. Runners around the country are invited to take advantage of the Historic Half’s lower registration cost of $65 prior to the New Year, as the cost will increase on January 4 to $80.

U.S. Marine Wins Turkey Trot 10K Leading 1,055 Finishers

It was a picturesque autumn day on Marine Corps Base Quantico today with many runners arriving from 20 different states dressed in turkey costumes and holiday garb for the Turkey Trot 10K and Turkey Trot Mile. The Turkey Trot Mile started off the events at 8:30 a.m. with more than 200 little ones running with mom and dad.

Marine Corps Marathon Groundpounder Completes 41st Event; Army Runner Wins

Flanked by United States Marines along a spectacular finish line, Groundpounder retired Col. Al Richmond completed his 41st consecutive Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) on Sunday, Oct. 30 in Arlington, VA. Richmond, a longtime resident of Arlington, home of the 41st MCM, ran “The People’s Marathon” wearing Bib # 41, completing the Marathon course in 6:39:47.

MCM Press Conference to Feature Olympian Billy Mills and Robotic Leg Participant

U.S. Marine and 1964 Olympian Billy Mills, who will be inducted into the Marine Corps Marathon Hall of Fame this weekend, is a featured speaker at the MCM Press Conference along with a paralyzed MCM10K participant who will complete the 6.2-mile event wearing robotic legs. The MCM Press Conference will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Sunset Room by Wolfgang Puck, National Harbor, MD.

Marine Corps Marathon Health & Fitness Expo at Gaylord National Resort

The two-day Health & Fitness Expo hosted annually by the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) will open on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. A short kickoff ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m., with doors open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Expo reopens Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Halls D & E.

Marine Corps Marathon App Available; ‘Track A Runner’ Service Now Open

With many changes to the 41st Marine Corps Marathon, MCM10K and the MCM Weekend of events from Oct. 28 through Marathon Day, Sunday, Oct. 30, the MCM has updated and redesigned its user-friendly App for all iPhone and Android mobile devices.

41st Marine Corps Marathon Now Accepting Media Credential Requests

Media can submit requests to cover the 41st Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and weekend of events from Friday, Oct. 28 through Marathon Day on Sunday, Oct. 30. The events will be held in Arlington, VA and throughout the nation’s capital at a variety of venues for thousands of registered participants of sold-out Marathon and MCM10K running events.

Marine Corps Historic Half to Introduce Devil Dog Double in 2017

The Marine Corps Historic Half will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Sunday, May 21 in Fredericksburg, VA by introducing an entirely new challenge – the Devil Dog Double. Runners participating in the Devil Dog Double will run the Semper Five and after completing that five-mile event, will run another 13.1 miles to complete the Marine Corps Historic Half, making it the Devil Dog Double.

Marine Corps Marathon Sells All Entries for MCM10K

The MCM10K presented by Aetna has sold out of all available entries for the 2016 event to be held on Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Sunday, Oct. 30. It was just yesterday that the MCM announced substantial changes would be made to this year’s event, including the MCM10K, which has been moved completely to Arlington, VA. For a number of years, the MCM10K started in the nation’s capital and at a time simultaneous to the MCM. As the result of Metro’s SafeTrack program, the MCM10K will have a new start time of 9:15 a.m., with the course both starting and finishing in Arlington.

Metro’s SafeTrack Prompts 41st MCM to Expand Start Time and Alter Course

The courses for the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and the accompanying MCM10K presented by Aetna, will be altered and a new expanded start schedule was publicly announced today as the result of SafeTrack, the system-wide plan unveiled by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to improve Metrorail safety and restore service reliability. The MCM held a press conference in Rosslyn, VA and streamed it on Facebook Live to announce the changes for Marathon Day, which is Sunday, Oct. 30.

Quantico Tri, Quantico 12K Top Finishers Clearly Dominate

Competitors in the Quantico Tri, hosted by the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) took to the waters of the Potomac River early this morning in a 750-meter swim in the open water of the Potomac, followed by a 20K bike, before finishing with a 5K run.

MCM Invites Runners to Participate in Weekend Events

The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is offering special opportunities for runners from around the world to share in the excitement of MCM Weekend this October. These include the MCM Pep Rally presented by First Command; MCM Runners Conference that includes U.S. Olympian speakers, the Carbo Dining In pasta celebration and the Runners bRUNch and 5K. All events will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor. The events on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 are open for online registration.

MedStar Teams with MCM Offering Free Runner Programs in Virginia

The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) has teamed up with MedStar Sports Medicine to offer MCM participants a fantastic opportunity to better prepare for their marathon run this October with the help of MedStar physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers – free of charge. These runner education sessions will be held at both Potomac River Running and Pacers stores located in Virginia.

Marine Corps Marathon to Open Transfer Program on June 13

Annually, the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) offers a unique opportunity for registered runners to officially transfer their entry to a hopeful marathoner. On Monday, June 13, the MCM will open the Transfer Program, enabling any registered MCM runner to transfer their entry to another marathoner, who will then run the 41st MCM on Oct. 30.

Fredericksburg, VA runner Mark Hopely, 27, enjoyed a hometown first-place finish at today’s Marine Corps Historic Half while leading 5,716 runners into the finish line located in Fredericksburg’s Central Park. Hopely finished his first Historic Half run in 1:11:06.

MCM Gains Approval to Manage Military Running Team

U.S. Marine Wins Marine Corps 17.75K in Prince William County, VA

2nd Lt. Andrew Harper, 24, a U.S. Marine stationed at The Basic School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA won first place at the Marine Corps 17.75K finishing in 1:05:33 today in Prince William County, VA. It was Harper’s first time running the event that offers all finishers “Access Granted,” or a guaranteed spot in the 41st Marine Corps Marathon this October. Harper, who finished in the third fastest time in event history, led 1,954 runners to capture the win.

Marine Corps Marathon to Celebrate Healthy School Award Winners

Elementary students from four Northern Virginia schools will be celebrated February 2-5 by the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and its partners for their participation in the MCM Kids Run held during MCM Weekend in October. The MCM, including its bulldog mascots, Sodexo and the National Watermelon Promotion Board will bestow Healthy School Awards at each of the local school gymnasiums while also presenting the exciting fitness and nutrition show, “Jump With Jill.”
