Events hosted by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization bring together runners, their supporters and the Marines in the spirit of competition and the pursuit of athleticism. Now, there’s a new way to gather these parties…at the dinner table.

Whether registered for Run Amuck, Recon Ruck, Belleau Wood 8K or the sold-out Crossroads Challenge, you’ll want to save your energy for the run and let the Marine Corps prepare dinner for you on the evening prior to the event. By attending the MCM Motivational Dinner presented by KPMG on Friday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. at The Clubs at Quantico, guests will enjoy the bonus of maximizing their drive to Marine Corps Base Quantico with special concierge Packet Pick-up service. Every registered participant who attends the dinner will receive their shirt, bib and other materials at the check-in table for the dinner rather than having to make the trip to Packet Pick-up.

Open to registered participants, their guests and the general public, the Motivational Dinner offers attendees the chance to dine where Marines dine, receive inspiration from an accomplished U.S. Marine athlete and leader, and enjoy a delicious pasta dinner. The meal includes multiple pasta options and sauces, healthy salads and warm cookies for only $20 (+processing fee) per person. While the dinners will be held on the eve prior to Run Amuck and other events, participation isn’t required to purchase tickets.

But wait, there’s more…The program will feature the Marine Corps Base Quantico Ceremonial Platoon with the Quantico Marine Band performing. Additionally, guests will hear a motivational talk from Colonel William C. Bentley, III, the Commander of Marine Corps Base Quantico. Col. Bentley graduated from The Citadel in May 1991 and commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Class. As a CH-53E helicopter pilot, he deployed to Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South America and commanded Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464. Additionally, he served at the Naval Air Systems Command, US European Command and Office of Naval Research, and earned a Masters degree from the National War College. He assumed command of Marine Corps Base Quantico in July 2018.

In addition to a distinguished military career, Col. Bentley is an accomplished athlete with a lifetime commitment to health and fitness. He grew up playing a variety of sports through high school including baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, football and wrestling. In college, he played football, participated in various intramurals, and was on the boxing team. In the last 25 years, he has completed over 50 races including six iron distance triathlons and nine marathons including eight Marine Corps Marathons.

Limited spots remain available for dinner and to participate in the Recon Ruck, Belleau Wood 8K or Run Amuck.
