Until event day June 15th
Worth The Weight
A 'ruck' can be simply described as walking a long distance while wearing a backpack or, for Marines, moving quickly with all the required military gear over rugged terrain. Whether using the term ‘ruck’ or ‘hump,’ Marines know they have to summon the strength and stamina to cover a long distance with the heightened challenge of carrying additional weight. At Recon Ruck, participants will navigate a 12-mile course on Quantico’s roads and trails while carrying a weighted pack.
The Recon Ruck challenges participants to cover 19.17K or just under 12 miles through Quantico's hills, trails and roadways. Happening on the same day as Run Amuck, the Crossroads Challenge and the Belleau Wood 8K, the Recon Ruck presents a new way for motivated individuals to participate in the MCM Event Series.
The Recon Ruck participants take to the hills, trails and roadways of Marine Corps Base Quantico while wearing weighted packs. Need more? The Crossroads Challenge, also held the same day, offers participants the change to participate in both, the Ruck and Run Amuck, the popular mud and obstacle run.
Four Dates for Distinguished Status
The Distinguished Participant medal is earned for a year of remaining always faithful (Semper Fidelis) to running with the Marines. Here are the four dates and various distances for runners to choose from to meet the necessary requirements to earn this stunning hardware.
Why June 15 Will Be an Action Packed Day
The MCM Event Series will debut Recon Ruck alongside Run Amuck, the mud and obstacle event, and the Belleau Wood 8K aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico on June 15. A double, known as the Crossroads Challenge, will also be introduced.
