Dates are set for the 2024 Marine Corps Marathon Organization running schedule and we can’t wait for you to #RunWithTheMarines! There are live and virtual events of various distances for all ages and levels, starting in January.

The Newbie

Hometown Challenge: Sergeants Major of the Marine Corps

Start your year of running excellence in January with our newest virtual event, the Hometown Challenge: Sergeants Major of the Marine Corps (SMMC). Gather four of your running partners to make a team of five and prepare to venture on a historical journey in celebration of the first senior enlisted advisor post created of any of the United States military branches.

On January 1, runners will be challenged to travel 10,523.6 scaled miles (one mile run translates to three miles) through the hometowns of each SMMC. This abstract loop will begin at Tun Tavern, the birthplace of the Marine Corps, and travel counterclockwise ending at the Marine Corps Barracks Washington, the SMMC place of duty. Participants will be able to track their mileage through their haku participant account on a map. As the mileage is accumulated, individuals will receive facts about each SMMC and their hometown.

Same great race, new fresh look!

quantico 12K

Runners can still rise to the challenge at the Quantico 12K, but with a new logo! When the event was introduced, it coincided with a triathlon influencing the water details found in the race’s branding.

The new logo now brings elements of the event’s location – the Marine Corps Officer’s Candidate School. It starts with the campaign cover that sits on the shield. This hat honors the Drill Instructors who push and train the future Marine leaders. Also featured are two swords, an ode to the servicemembers who eventually earn them – the Mameluke Sword worn by Marine Officers and the noncommissed officer (NCO) sword worn by enlisted leaders (E-4 and above). Lastly, the base of the logo is the shield, inspired by the Officer’s Candidate School’s logo.

The Quantico 12K will run on August 24 aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico.
