Registration is $65 and will increase to $85 on May 1, 2020.
Semper Fi Challenge
Beginning Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, the Marine Corps Marathon will open the Semper Fi Challenge to runners who just can’t resist running with the Marines. Semper Fi Challenge participants will wear a unique bib and receive a special Semper Fi Challenge medal at the finish line of the 45h MCM after completing events in May and October 2020. The Challenge medal will be awarded in addition to a very special MCM finisher medal planned for 2020.
The Semper Fi Challenge is a new registration path that guarantees MCM entry for up to 4,000 runners when they sign up for the two-event challenge that includes both the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon hosted in Fredericksburg, Virginia and the Marine Corps Marathon. Entrants can register for either the Historic Half or the Devil Dog Double on May 17, 2020 and for the MCM or the MCM50K on October 25, 2020. Completion of events on both dates is required to earn the medal.
In honor of the 45th anniversary, the entry fee for the MCM has been reduced by 4.5% from 2019. The Challenge fee will be determined by the mix of events selected by the registrant. The MCM reduction will be included in the final cost of the Challenge.
Registration is now closed for the Semper Fi Challenge.
In partnership with Always Advancing and sponsored by VA Runner, local running specialty store, the Distinguished Participant medal will be presented to runners who have participated events on four specific dates during 2020 including Historic Half events (13.1, Semper 5ive, Devil Dog Double) in May; Run Amuck, Belleau Wood 8K or Recon Ruck in June; the Quantico Tri or Quantico 12K in August; and the Turkey Trot 10K in November. The Distinguished Participant medal, recognizing a year-long commitment to running with the Marines, is awarded to qualified runners after they finish the Turkey Trot in November.
On the same morning as the Marine Corps Historic Half, the Semper 5ive starts in downtown Fredericksburg, scales Hospital Hill and crosses the same finish as the Half. Finishers receive a unique and patriotic medal. All participants get a technical shirt and commemorative bib. Registration for 2020 will open November 13, 2019.
Devil Dog Double

Runners will have double the challenge and twice the opportunity to scale the 200-foot continuous incline located on the Marine Corps Historic Half and Semper 5ive courses. The Devil Dog Double, a one day, two event combination with three medals. Registration for the event is currently sold out. Spots may become available as registered participants transfer to other weekend events.
Between registration and participation, updates to a runner's personal information may be necessary. Runners may send an email with specific changes to email@example.com. The corrected participant information may require several days before appearing in the database.
After registering, some runners determine they are unable to participate in the Historic Half or desire to switch to a shorter distance event. These runners may opt to transfer their entry to a non-registered runner or change events through the Transfer Program. Runners often find transfer partners on the MCM Facebook page. Additionally, the transfer program offers registered runners the opportunity to switch between Historic Half Weekend events. The Transfer Program closes on May 5, 2019.
