Running a marathon takes miles of painstaking preparation, but making travel plans for the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) doesn’t need to be as tricky. Spend less time on travel searches and more time on training for “The People’s Marathon” by booking a room directly through the MCM Online Hotel Desk.
With approximately half the field of participants from outside the national capital area and the other half knowing all too well the challenges of area traffic, picking the most convenient hotel for MCM Weekend can make a big difference in the experience. The MCM has taken care of the travel logistics by finding hotels in hot spots that fit a variety of needs. Want to sightsee in addition to the MCM? Taking public transportation? Looking for convenience before or after the marathon? Don’t fret, there are hotels to fit all these needs.
The best option for runners is to book a room through the MCM Online Hotel Desk with discounted rates at dozens of hotels. The MCM hotel desk, managed by proud MCM hotel provider OnPeak, makes booking a room easy and even lists the distance from each property to the event start. Even better, these partner hotels are aware of the early morning needs of their guests and often provide additional support on the day of the MCM.
Runners have a variety of properties to choose from offering special MCM Weekend rates! Check out the following featured locations and then visit the hotels page to find what works best for you.
1: MCM HQ – Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center
Book a room in the waterfront resort that rests alongside the Potomac River and hosts a number of MCM Weekend events, including the Health & Fitness Expo presented by Cigna and Carbo Dining In presented by Orbis. Enjoy staying in the middle of all the MCM action and take advantage of the National Harbor entertainment district with plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions.
The Gaylord is easy to get to and can be accessed by car or the Eisenhower Metro station. For runner convenience, the MCM will have shuttles running continuously on Friday and Saturday from the Metro to the Gaylord. Numerous shuttles will run on MCM morning from the resort directly to Runners Village and to Metro. Post event shuttles will run between the Eisenhower Metro station and the Gaylord. Once back at the MCM HQ, a well-deserved post-marathon Victory Party awaits (tickets are on sale now).
2: Close to Start and Finish – Arlington County
Arlington County, home of the MCM, offers quick and easy access to Metro and the Start and Finish areas with more than 40 affordable accommodations ranging from boutiques to full services hotels. To be close to the Start line, runners should stay in Crystal City which features great restaurants and unique specialty stores. MCM offers shuttles to Runners Village on event morning.
Runners who want to be close to the Finish line should opt to stay in Rosslyn, where many hotels are within walking distance of the Finish Festival. One or two stops along Metro’s orange line from Rosslyn Metro station provide convenient post-event transportation.
Enhance your MCM Weekend experience by touring Arlington County’s treasures like the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima), Arlington National Cemetery, the U.S. Air Force Memorial, and the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.
Wake up feeling ready to #RunWithTheMarines at the MCM HQ Hotel, Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, or at any of the 40+ hotels in Arlington County. Rest assured, the best options for MCM Weekend hotels are on the MCM Online Hotel Desk.
