The tenth Historic Half Weekend begins for all participants the same way—with a visit to the biggest Healthy Lifestyle Expo ever. Also, new in 2017, the Expo boasts earlier hours with a noon opening on Friday, May 19. There’s no admission fee and parking is free. Anyone can stroll the Expo for inspiration, apparel, fitness products, food sampling and so much more.
Held at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center (2371 Carl D. Silver Parkway) on May 19 from noon-7 p.m. and on May 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Expo welcomes all runners to Packet Pick-up, the official distribution point of the participant bib and commemorative shirt. Runners must remember to bring the eCard, either printed or displayed on a phone, to receive the bib. Then, the Expo floor opens up to the Historic Half Store featuring Historic Half, Hospital Hill and other branded apparel and keepsakes.
A special service provided at no cost to all attendees is free hands-only, community CPR training being hosted in the Cogent Steps booth. Runners can also step on a treadmill for a preview run up Hospital Hill’s 200-foot elevation at the Mary Washington Healthcare booth. Visitors will stop by booths hosted by GEICO Military, Navy Federal Credit Union, Sprint, Fredericksburg Visitors & Tourism and Select Physical Therapy. Pohanka Nissan of Fredericksburg will display “cheer vehicles” featuring motivational messages from runners. Share a shoutout or cheer message on Twitter at #PohankaNissanHistoricHalf. Some messages will be selected for placement on the vehicles.
More than 70 booths. Guest speakers. Great shopping. Cool giveaways. It’s a great way to kickoff Historic Half Weekend.
