The Historic Half celebrates 127 runners who have reached the event finish line every year since the inaugural running in 2008. This dedicated collection of 47 women and 80 men is recognized as the Iron Mile Company, named for the Iron Mines Company, a mining and smelting operation founded in 1725 near Fredericksburg. Ranging in age from 17 to 69, the Iron Milers come from as far away as Texas and Tennessee with 41 having served in the military.
