Routine Uses: Information is accessed by Marine Corps Marathon Organization personnel with a need to know to meet the purpose. Information may be provided to television, online and print media to provide publicity on the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events and to selected sponsors approved by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization. Registration for the Quantico 12K is now open. All participants can earn a unique finisher medal and participant shirt. Participants must be 14 years or older and able to maintain a 20 minute per mile pace.
Start your path to becoming distinguished in March with the Marine Corps 17.75K. In 2023, the beloved race through Prince William Forest Park will now count toward the Distinguished Participant Medal. Don’t worry, finishers will still gain Access Granted into the 48th Marine Corps Marathon on October 29, 2023 as well!
The path will also run through Arlington, Va. and the nation’s capital with the addition of the MCM Weekend events to the lineup with the program now encapsulating all MCMO events. Ambitious runners who seek to earn this coveted title and exclusive medal in 2023 must register and complete one live event of the following tiers:
After registering, some runners are unable to participate in the Quantico 12K or they may wish to switch their registration to a different MCM Weekend event. These runners may opt to transfer their entry to a non-registered runner through the Transfer Program. The MCMO is not responsible for identifying individuals for the transfer. Often, runners are able to connect via the MCMO Facebook page. A fee is associated with this service. Transfers may be executed any time after a runner is officially registered.
Participants who are concerned they may not be able to participate in a Marine Corps Marathon Organization event can pay an additional service fee (14% of all items purchased, excluding event processing fees) for a 100% refund. The service fee will be the only amount not refunded. Refundable registration must be purchased as part of the registration process. Participants cannot go back and purchase once registration is complete.

Runners journey through the training grounds of OCS for 7.46 miles rising to the challenge as they conquer paved streets to gravely paths.
In accordance with Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) policy, all runners, volunteers, spectators and sponsors requiring access to the base for the MCM Event Series must have an approved ID and be registered into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), prior to being allowed on base. All individuals, age 18 and above, who do not possess a valid Department of Defense (DoD) issued ID card (CAC – Common Access Card & TESLIN – active, retiree, dependent, reserve, individual ready reserve) must register into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) and stop by the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to obtain a visitor pass. Passes can be applied for 30 days in advance and obtained at the VCC up to 14 days in advance of an event. Plan in advance for any MCM Event Series date to obtain the required access pass.
Packet Pick-up for the Quantico 12K will be located at the National Museum of the Marine Corps (1775 Semper Fidelis Way, Triangle, VA, 22172) on Friday, August 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Runners are encouraged to attend Packet Pick-up prior to event day. Runners must bring the official E-Card to Packet Pick-up. E-cards will be emailed prior to Packet Pick-up.
For runners unable to attend Packet Pick-up, proxy pick-up is an available option. Runners may designate an individual to obtain their bib and event materials. The individual picking up the bib for a registered runner must present a hard or digital copy of the completed e-Card with a copy of the runner’s photo ID, as well as a copy of his/her ID. Please be sure to obtain the runner’s preferred shirt size. E-Cards are emailed to the registered runner before the event. Parents may sign waiver and retrieve packets for their children under 18 years of age.
There will be limited event morning Packet Pick-up available at the event site. Extended wait times to obtain a packet on event morning could delay participation in Quantico 12K.
The official Quantico 12K participant bibs feature the timing device attached to the reverse side of the bib. These must remain in place for proper timing to occur.
Emergency medical and contact information form is also on the back of the bib. All participants must complete this information.
Opportunities to work alongside U.S. Marines range from assembling runner packets and shirts to supporting a water point, food station, medical aid station, runner’s hospitality or the start and finish areas on event day.
All volunteers take pride in supporting thousands of individuals striving to achieve a running goal.
Volunteers receive a commemorative shirt and a letter of appreciation for each event supported. Individuals and groups are encouraged to volunteer throughout the year. Support opportunities are announced at a minimum of six weeks prior to each event.
The Quantico 12K starts at 7:30 a.m. on Floyd Lane near the OCS Chow Hall and the Candidates’ parking.
There will be 3 water points for this course. Water points will be located along the course near the following locations.

There will be no baggage area offered for this event. Runners are encouraged to store any gear in their cars. We recommend that all participants arrive with plenty of time to spare, so you can drop off any baggage at your vehicle and prepare to run.
Awards will be given out to the top three overall male and female finishers as well as in the Master’s, Grand Master’s and age categories.
Finisher Certificates may be accessed by clicking the arrow next to a runner name on the results page. Each runner may individualize the certificate by selecting up to four badges that reflect the runner’s experience at the Quantico 12K. Options include: First timer, PR, Running in Honor and Marine Spouse among others. Certificates feature overall, gender and age group rankings.

Take Exit 148 (Marine Corps Base Quantico) off I-95 and follow to “Mainside.” From I-95 South, merge right after exiting. From I-95 North, turn left at the first traffic light after exiting. Approach the gates to enter Marine Corps Base Quantico. Please have Photo ID ready to present. Once through gate, remain straight on Russell Road for approximately two miles.
At the traffic circle (Dunlap Circle), take the first exit onto Dunlap Road, which becomes Thomas Street. When arriving at the stop sign, turn right onto Range Road, and immediately veer left to go over bridge onto Bauer Road.
Continue on Bauer Road for approximately one mile (passing the air facility on the left). At the first stop sign, veer right onto Fleming Street and cross over the train tracks. Please use caution.
Parking is available at Officer Candidate School (OCS) near the Quantico 12K start line. Follow OCS and MCMO Event parking signs to OCS for access to the 12K start. Signs will direct participants from both Exit 148 and Exit 150 off I-95.
There are minimal road closures for the Quantico 12K. More information coming soon.

Participants will have from August 12 to August 27 to complete the distance.
A virtual finish will not count toward the Distinguished Participant medal.
