Parent Guide for Back-to-School
In many areas, the morning commute is already populated with yellow school buses and roadside gatherings of youngsters with new backpacks and lunch boxes.
It's Back-to-School time for families everywhere. That means adjusting to a new schedule, coordinating after-school activities and recalibrating family time from the ease of summer vacation to the intensity of homework. The endless hours of summer fun quickly throttles down to school days residing behind a desk. Kids need to burn energy and maintain a level of activity.
Instill the sense of accomplishment and inspire new fitness goals by registering your young runner for the MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529 on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Pentagon North Parking lot. The one mile, just-for-fun event hosts kids between the ages of 5-12. For added convenience (and to allow the over-programmed families to maximize waking hours and cram in as many activities as possible), six different wave times are available beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Kids love swag and the MCM Kids Run offers tons with a T-shirt for every participant, collectable bib, finisher medal, goodie bag, healthy snacks and a free family fitness fun festival throughout the day. Live music featuring the School of Rock. A bevy of mascots. Marines at the start and finish to cheer and support every youngster. The MCM Kids Run is a wholly positive experience for the family on the go.
Register now, you probably already have a dozen things to do that day anyway.
