Medal of Honor

Originally called "The Officers' Club Golf Course," the Medal of Honor Golf Course began in 1930 as a six-hole layout. The course grew to nine holes in 1934 and expanded to 18-holes in the mid-1940s, when it was renamed the "Quantico Golf Course." One more name change would occur in 1930, when it took its current title of "Medal of Honor Golf Course." The course is open year round to Active Duty and Retired Military, DoD civilian employees, family members, FBI Academy, National Guard and Reserve personnel and the general public.

Course

Runners gather in the parking lot outside Mulligan's at the Medal of Honor golf course and begin the 4.97 mile run by venturing down the driveway to Fuller Road. At mile one, the course joins the golf cart path near the first hole. Runnes continue along the path through the 18th hole finishing up hill in front of the clubhouse.

Water Points

One on-course water point is located at mile 2.5.

Aid Stations

Medical support is available at the aid station located at start/finish.

Baggage

Runners may check their bags in the designated area within the parking lot near the start/finish.

Start

The Medal of Honor 8K presented by Marines Plumbing begins with a wave start at 9:30 a.m. Additional waves depart every two minutes.

Finish

The course concludes uphill in front of Mulligan's in the parking lot where runners are awarded a special finisher ornament.

Awards

The Medal of Honor 8K Awards Ceremony will be held event morning near the pro shop at the Medal of Honor golf course. Gold replicas of the Marine Corps War Memorial will be presented to the top three overall men and women. First place age group finishers and masters male and female will receive Eagle, Globe and Anchor awards.

Parking

There will be no parking and no drop off at the Medal of Honor Golf Course for the 8K. All runners should park at Daly Hall (2079 Barnett Road Quantico, VA) and board the event shuttles departing from this lot. Additional parking is located near this address in adjacent lots. Shuttles will deliver runners to the start from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. Participants should arrive early as later shuttles may be crowded. Shuttles will return runners to the parking location following the event until 12:45 p.m.

Packet Pick-up

Participants must show the E-card at Packet Pick-up either printed out or displayed on phone to obtain the official participant bib.
