Lottery registration for the Marine Corps Marathon is conducted annually during March. There are no fees associated with signing up for the Lottery. Other options available to runners include the Four Star all-inclusive registration package; the MCM Charity Partner Program; or Transfers. In honor of the 45th anniversary, the entry fee for the MCM has been reduced by 4.5% from 2019, making registration $171.90 plus processing fees.

Purpose: To register, acknowledge and promote participation in Marine Corps Marathon Organization events. Information is used to plan, organize, coordinate and execute the events and communicate with the runners and volunteers before, during and after the event to include publication of finisher results, finisher certificates and race photographs, videos and motion pictures. Data and photographs, videotape, motion pictures and other recordings may be used by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization and its select sponsors for surveys, publications on websites, race programs and promotions, newspaper articles, newsletters and other race marketing purposes and runner enhancements.
Routine Uses: Information is accessed by Marine Corps Marathon Organization personnel with a need to know to meet the purpose. Information may be provided to television, online and print media to provide publicity on the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events and to selected sponsors approved by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization. Registration for the Marine Corps Marathon is conducted via online lottery starting at noon on March 18. The 2020 MCM Lottery Registration will be open through March 31 at noon. There are no fees associated with signing up for the Lottery. Only those runners who are officially selected through the Lottery will incur costs. On the Lottery form, runners may opt to purchase additional items including the RunCoach training program; MCM Brooks apparel; MarathonFoto photo package; iTAB personalized medal decoration; and tickets to the Carbo Dining-In pasta dinner. Notifications will be delivered to runners by email on April 1.

MCM Four Star
MCM Four Star Registration Package is a limited availability program offering immediate access to the MCM including two guaranteed entries plus two nights at the headquarters hotel, the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, tickets to MCM Weekend events, an exclusive reception and special benefits including shuttle service to the MCM, Metro SmarTrip cards and pre-event hospitality tent. The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center hosts the MCM Health & Fitness Expo, the Carbo Dining In and more MCM Weekend activities.
The MCM welcomes back the most frequent participants with exclusive registration for MCM Runners Club members. Those individuals who have completed at least five MCMs and successfully completed the Runners Club membership process will receive an email during the first week of March with information regarding registration for the MCM. Runners Club members are now eligible to sign up for the 2020 MCM until March 13.
For those who want to dedicate participation to a cause, MCM Charity Partner organizations offer guaranteed access to the MCM. Make a personal connection to a cause and contact MCM Charity Partners directly to learn about programs, fundraising requirements and the registration process. Annually, the new roster of Charity Partners is updated immediately following the MCM Registration Lottery.
Runners who deferred an entry from the 2019 to the 2020 MCM must re-register to complete this process and guarantee participation in the MCM in October 2020. These runners will receive an instructional email and, later, a courtesy reminder during the first week of March. The period for deferment re-registration is March 2-13.
Semper Fi Challenge
Semper Fi Challenge participants will wear a unique bib and receive a special Semper Fi Challenge medal at the finish line of the 45h MCM after completing events in May and October 2020. The Challenge medal will be awarded in addition to a very special MCM finisher medal planned for 2020.
The Semper Fi Challenge sold out in November 2019. Over 4,000 runners signed up for the two-event challenge that includes both the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon hosted in Fredericksburg, Virginia and the Marine Corps Marathon. Entrants chose to register for either the Historic Half or the Devil Dog Double on May 17, 2020 and for the MCM or the MCM50K on October 25, 2020. Completion of events on both dates is required to earn the medal.
In honor of the 45th anniversary, the entry fee for the MCM has been reduced by 4.5% from 2019. The Challenge fee was determined by the mix of events selected by the registrant. The MCM reduction will be included in the final cost of the Challenge.
Annually runners from more than 50 countries participate in the MCM. Enhance the experience if traveling from abroad and make the visit to Arlington, VA and the nation's capital even more significant. Register for the MCM through one of the partner travel agencies.
The deferment program affords runners the opportunity to push a current entry to the next year's marathon. By forgoing participation the current year’s MCM and deferring an entry to the following year, the runner will receive a guaranteed spot in the next year's event and can avoid the Lottery process. A limited number of deferments are available each year with the program remaining open until all deferments have been claimed or the designated closing date has been reached. There is a $80 fee associated with this limited availability service. Any additional purchases made at the time of the initial MCM registration including Carbo Dining-in tickets are not eligible to be deferred to a future registration. MCM10K bibs may not be deferred. An entry may only be deferred once. The 2020 deferment program is not open yet, date to be announced.
A wide variety of volunteer openings are available for various things throughout event weekend, for both individuals and groups.
Bigger than big. The MCM50K start line is located on on Route 110 in Arlington, VA-the same location as the Marine Corps Marathon. Registration is $200 and is now open.
Held on the same day as the MCM, the MCM10K is a 6.2 mile run that shares the same finish line as the MCM at the Marine Corps War Memorial. All participants receive a technical long sleeve and finishers are presented a stunning medal by a U.S. Marine. Registration for the MCM10K will open on April 13 for $65.
MCM Kids Run
Hosted on October 24, 2020, the day prior to the MCM, this one mile just-for-fun running challenge hosts children ages 5-12. Participants may select from nine specific starting waves. Shuttles from Metro, post-event hospitality, activities, entertainment, games and mascots make this an unforgettable event. All participants receive a shirt, access to the Camp Miles Family Fitness Festival and a stunning medal at the finish line. Registration for the MCM Kids run will open April 13 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) eastern time. Registration costs just $10.
