The Journey Begins

Inspiration only takes a moment. To finish, a few hours. To train, though, that takes months. Prepare for the best performance at “The People’s Marathon” through MCM partners and utilize the latest in training technology or attend the informative, inspirational and insightful training workshops hosted in DC.

MCM Training

MedStar Sports Medicine, the proud Sports Medicine Partner of the MCM, in partnership with DC-area running specialty stores, Pacers, will host free organized training runs. MedStar helps runners determine if nagging pain or injury should be treated or needs further work-up. The MedStar staff has extensive training in video motion analysis, and are runners themselves. Their combination of personal and professional experience, along with technology previously available only to elite athletes, adds up to a high caliber program to help run healthy.

Pacers will host free training runs for the MCM on July 20, August 10 and September 21. Each date will offer various mileage options and will be supported by water points and snacks for participants.

  • July 20, at 6:30 a.m. – DuPont Circle Fountain. Mileage options 6, 7, 8, 10 or 12.
  • August 10, at 6 a.m. – Teddy Roosevelt Island. Mileage options 10, 12, 14 or 16.
  • September 21, at 6 a.m. – Teddy Roosevelt Island. Mileage options 14, 16, 18 or 20.

Advance RSVP is appreviated.

Runners are also invited to join Pacers on the weekly long runs happening on Saturdays starting at 6:30 a.m. at the 14th Street location or at 7 a.m. with rotating start locations. Exact locations for 7 a.m. runs will be announced soon.
