Historic Half

The 13.1 mile run in Fredericksburg, VA boasts a fantastic finisher medal, terrific technical participant shirt and a start ceremony concluding with the shout of a town crier and the blast of a vintage musket. Registration is now open.

Privacy Act Statement -

Purpose: To register, acknowledge and promote participation in Marine Corps Marathon Organization events. Information is used to plan, organize, coordinate and execute the events and communicate with the runners and volunteers before, during and after the event to include publication of finisher results, finisher certificates and race photographs, videos and motion pictures. Data and photographs, videotape, motion pictures and other recordings may be used by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization and its select sponsors for surveys, publications on websites, race programs and promotions, newspaper articles, newsletters and other race marketing purposes and runner enhancements.

Routine Uses: Information is accessed by Marine Corps Marathon Organization personnel with a need to know to meet the purpose. Information may be provided to television, online and print media to provide publicity on the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events and to selected sponsors approved by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization. Disclosure: Voluntary. However, failure to provide the information may result in ineligibility to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events.

Historic Half

It’s the greatest half in history! Run through historic Fredericksburg from the retail hub of Central Park, through quaint downtown shops and restaurants, up Hospital Hill to a finish line bathed in stars and stripes. It’s a 13.1 mile journey with support from the U.S. Marines.

Semper 5ive

On the same morning as the Marine Corps Historic Half, the Semper 5ive starts in downtown Fredericksburg, scales Hospital Hill and crosses the same finish as the Half. Finishers receive a unique and patriotic medal. All participants get a technical shirt and commemorative bib.

Devil Dog Double

The only thing more motivating than conquering Hospital Hill in Fredericksburg, VA as part of the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon is scaling it twice in one morning. Runners will have double the challenge and twice the opportunity to scale the 200-foot continuous incline located on the Marine Corps Historic Half and Semper 5ive courses. The Devil Dog Double, a one day, two event combination with three medals.

Semper Fidelis Challenge

You can once again conquer the Semper Fidelis Challenge in 2022! Runners who successfully complete the following LIVE events will be eligible:

  • Marine Corps Historic Half (MCHH) or the Devil Dog Double on May 22, 2022
  • Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) or MCM50K on October 30, 2022.

Finishers will receive an exclusive Semper Fidelis Challenge medal, in addition to the individual race medals, upon completion of the MCM or MCM50K.

Registration

For this year, runners will register individually for each race. Registration for the MCHH Events opens on December 1, 2021 and registration for the MCM Weekend Events opens on February 16, 2022. Deferred registrations will count toward the challenge as long as the runner finishes the live event in 2022. The Marine Corps Marathon Organization will track who qualifies for the challenge in-house.

Distinguished Participation

Sponsored by VA Runner, local running specialty store, the Distinguished Participant medal will be presented to runners who have participated in four specific events in 2022 including:

  • One of the Historic Half events (13.1, Semper 5ive or Devil Dog Double);
  • Crossroads Trail 15K or Belleau Wood 8K in June
  • Quantico 12K in August
  • And the Turkey Trot 10K or Mile in November.

The Distinguished Participant medal, recognizing a year-long commitment to running with the Marines, is awarded to qualified runners after they finish the Turkey Trot in November.

Iron Miler

Among the registered runners for Historic Half Weekend are the more than 100 members of the Iron Mile Company. These individuals have participated in every Historic Half since 2008.

Corrections

Between registration and participation, updates to a runner's personal information may be necessary. Runners may send an email with specific changes to mcmcustomerservice@usmc-mccs.org. The corrected participant information may require several days before appearing in the database.
