The Crossroads Trail 15K presented by Marines Plumbing commemorates the Crossroads of the Corps by sending participants on a 9.3 mile run on June 19, 2021 either virtually or through the hills, trails and trees of Marine Corps Base Quantico. Run in the spirit of the Marines whose education and careers as warfighters are all started one way or another at Quantico, Crossroads of the Corps." All participants receive a technical short sleeve shirt and a special edition bib. All finishers receive a commemorative medal.
Event Day Safety
To prepare for participation in live, in-person MCMO events, please note the following mitigation strategies intended to protect runners, Marines and staff. Under new and updated guidance, the MCMO will allow participants to remove their masks during the run. Runners are required to wear masks upon arrival until starting the run and then immediately after crossing the finish line. Runners may opt to wear masks on course and may consider wearing a mask when approaching the proximity of other individuals. When wearing masks, runners are instructed to follow these guidelines:
- Masks must cover nose and mouth
- Bandanas and valved masks are not allowed
- A mask will be provided in Packet Pick-up bags
- A mask will be available at the finish line as well
- Spectators are not permitted at events due to attendance capacity limitations
Compliance supports the safety of all individuals at the events.
Crossroads 15K participants will begin the 9.3 mile event at Butler Stadium. A quick run up John Quick Road will take the participants into the base trail system for 9 miles of rolling hills including some single track trails and challenging hills with recognizable names including Montezuma and Heartbreak Ridge. As the participants complete the 15K on McCard Road the course finishes in the above Butler Stadium where they will cross the finish line and claim a military-inspired finisher medal.
There will be five water points (two double) along the course near the following locations:
- WP 1/5: before Mile 1 and before mile 8 on Stadium Trail crossroad at Powerline.
- WP 2: at mile 2.5 at the Child Development Center on Purvis Road
- WP 3/4: after mile 6 and after Mile 7 before and after Woodpecker Trail Loop
Each Aid Station is equipped with an AED, oxygen and other medical supplies needed to care for Crossroads Trail 15K participants along the course and at the finish. Volunteers from the Naval Health Clinic Quantico and others along with Marine Corps Base Quantico Emergency Medical Services support the runners.
Aid Stations are located:
- Stadium Trail Crossroads just before Mile 1 and before mile 8
- Child Development Center on Purvis Road at Mile 2.5
- Woodpecker Trail just after mile 6 and after Mile 7
Baggage will be available to participants. Only the clear plastic bag issued at packet pick-up will be accepted at the baggage check in table. It is not recommended to check in valuables, please leave them at home or locked in your vehicle.
The Crossroads 15K will begin approximately at 7:00 a.m. Butler Stadium. To ensure maximum social distancing, runners will be divided into waves. Wave times will be provided at packet pick-up along with suggested arrival time.
Be sure to give enough time to park and get to the start line.
All participants will enjoy hospitality to include beverages and recovery snacks while visiting the Finish Festival booths and activities.
Awards to the top three overall men & women. Awards will also be given out to the top three male and female in each 10-yr age group. (10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+).
In accordance with Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) policy, all runners, volunteers, spectators and sponsors requiring access to the base for the MCM Event Series must have an approved ID and be registered into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), prior to being allowed on base. All individuals, age 18 and above, who do not possess a valid Department of Defense (DoD) issued ID card (CAC - Common Access Card & TESLIN – active, retiree, dependent, reserve, individual ready reserve) must register into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) and stop by the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to obtain a visitor pass. Passes can be obtained at the VCC up to 14 days in advance of an event. Plan in advance for any MCM Event Series date to obtain the required access pass.
Parking is available in multiple locations near the start and finish line in the center of the Base. Signs direct participants to these lots from both exit 148 and 150 off I-95. Primary parking will be in various parking lots within walking distance to Butler Stadium.
Facilities Maintenance Section (FMS), Firestone/Barnett Field, or Wounded Warrior. Participants may not park in the lot For Pruitt Hall/Auto Hobby Shop or the Barbers Physical Activity Center (BPAC).
- Firestone/Barnett Field Parking Lot – Use 3141 Barnett Avenue
- FMS Parking Lot - Use 3252 Barnett Avenue
- Wounded Warrior Parking Lot – Use 1998 Hill Avenue
Please use crosswalks and sidewalks when walking to Butler Stadium and when returning back to the parking lots.
From I-95 South - take Exit 148. Turn left on Russell Road. Proceed 1 mile to gate. Continue 2.5 miles to parking and event area.
From I-95 North- take Exit 148. Turn right onto Russell Road. Proceed 3/4 mile to gate. Continue 2.5 miles to parking and event area.
