Purpose: To register, acknowledge and promote participation in Marine Corps Marathon Organization events. Information is used to plan, organize, coordinate and execute the events and communicate with the runners and volunteers before, during and after the event to include publication of finisher results, finisher certificates and race photographs, videos and motion pictures. Data and photographs, videotape, motion pictures and other recordings may be used by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization and its select sponsors for surveys, publications on websites, race programs and promotions, newspaper articles, newsletters and other race marketing purposes and runner enhancements.
Routine Uses: Information is accessed by Marine Corps Marathon Organization personnel with a need to know to meet the purpose. Information may be provided to television, online and print media to provide publicity on the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events and to selected sponsors approved by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization. Disclosure: Voluntary. However, failure to provide the information may result in ineligibility to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events.

REGISTRATION

Registration for the Turkey Trot 10K and Mile will open on July 12. All participants can earn a unique finisher medal and participant shirt. Participants must be 10 years or older and able to maintain a 20 minute per mile pace.

Distinguished Participant 2023

The Distinguished Participant medal will be presented to runners who have participated in five specific LIVE events in 2023 in the following tiers:

The Distinguished Participant medal, recognizing a year-long commitment to running with the Marines, is awarded to qualified runners after they finish the live and in-person Turkey Trot in November.

TRANSFERS

After registering, some runners are unable to participate in the Turkey Trot 10K and Mile or they may wish to switch their registration to a different MCM Weekend event. These runners may opt to transfer their entry to a non-registered runner through the Transfer Program. The MCMO is not responsible for identifying individuals for the transfer. Often, runners are able to connect via the MCMO Facebook page. A fee is associated with this service. Transfers may be executed any time after a runner is officially registered.

REFUNDABLE REGISTRATION

Participants who are concerned they may not be able to participate in a Marine Corps Marathon Organization event can pay an additional service fee (14% of all items purchased, excluding event processing fees) for a 100% refund. The service fee will be the only amount not refunded. Refundable registration must be purchased as part of the registration process. Participants cannot go back and purchase once registration is complete.

Please note, refundable registration does not cover the following:

  • If the participant does not attend the event because they are concerned about the coronavirus (COVID-19) or are self-isolating without a positive COVID-19 test or other non-COVID-19 communicable diseases leading to quarantines or travel restrictions.
  • If event organizers cancel the race.
  • Processing fees associated with items (entry fee, ancillary products, etc.) purchased during the application process.

Open to runners ages 10 and over, the 10K features a newly updated fast course through the tree-lined roads of Marine Corps Base Quantico. Rolling through Marine Corps Base Quantico’s tree-lined, winding roads and wraps back along the Potomac River. The Turkey Trot boasts a start and finish (Catlin Ave.) alongside Lejeune Hall.

general information

base access

In accordance with Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) policy, all runners, volunteers, spectators and sponsors requiring access to the base for the MCM Event Series must have an approved ID and be registered into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), prior to being allowed on base. All individuals, age 18 and above, who do not possess a valid Department of Defense (DoD) issued ID card (CAC – Common Access Card & TESLIN – active, retiree, dependent, reserve, individual ready reserve) must register into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) and stop by the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to obtain a visitor pass. Passes can be applied for 30 days in advance and obtained at the VCC up to 14 days in advance of an event. Plan in advance for any MCM Event Series date to obtain the required access pass.

runner’s Guide

Packet Pickup

Runners will be required to pick up the specially designed, commemorative bib with timing tag, turkey-themed long sleeve technical participant shirt and other event material during the designated Packet Pick-up time. Runners must show the E-card at Packet Pick-up either printed out or displayed on a phone.

Friday, November 17 from 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, at 1775 Semper Fidelis Way, Triangle, VA 22172.

Can’t make it?

For runners unable to attend Packet Pick-up on Friday, November 17, a designated representative may obtain event materials with proper documentation. The individual picking up the bib for a registered runner must present a hard or digital copy of the completed E-card with a copy of the runner’s photo ID, as well as a copy of his/her ID. Please obtain the runner’s preferred shirt size.

E-Cards are emailed to the registered runner before the event.

Parents may sign waiver and retrieve packets for children under 18 years of age.

Proxy pickup is only available Friday, November 17.

volunteers

Lend a hand

Opportunities to work alongside U.S. Marines range from assembling runner packets and shirts to supporting a water point, food station, medical aid station, runner’s hospitality or the start and finish areas on event day.
All volunteers take pride in supporting thousands of individuals striving to achieve a running goal.

Volunteers receive a commemorative shirt and a certificate for each event supported. Individuals and groups are encouraged to volunteer throughout the year. Support opportunities are announced at a minimum of six weeks prior to each event.

ARRIVAL DETAILS

The Turkey Trot 10K and Mile starts at 10:00 a.m. and the Turkey Trot Mile starts at 9:30 a.m. on Catlin Avenue alongside Lejeune Hall.

Water points

There will be two water points located along the course near the following locations:

  • WP 1 is at Mile 1.6 at Marine Federal Credit Union
  • WP 2 is at Mile 4.5 at Barnett Avenue, in front of G-3 Supply

baggage

Runners should use the clear plastic bag provided at Packet Pick-up to store personal items on event day. Check the bag at the Baggage Area on event day and retrieve baggage from the same location after a successful finish.

awards

Top male and female finishers and first place finishers in age group categories will receive a frozen turkey award, courtesy of Wegmans, on event morning in a special ceremony at the finish line.

Finisher Certificates may be accessed by clicking the arrow next to a runner name on the results page or within a runner’s Haku participant account.

Results discrepancy? Absence of data? Please email your name and bib number to timer.guy@gmail.com. All results posted on the MCMO website immediately after an event are unofficial. Additional time to review all data and finalize the results information is often necessary.

Driving directions to Turkey Trot 10K and Mile parking:

From I-95 South – take Exit 148. Turn left on Russell Road. Proceed 1 mile to gate. Continue 2.5 miles to parking and event areas. Follow MCMO Event Series parking signs.

From I-95 North- take exit 148. Turn right onto Russell Road. Proceed 3/4 mile to gate. Continue 2.5 miles to parking and event areas. Follow MCMO Event Series parking signs.

Road closures

There are minimal road closures for the Turkey Trot 10K and Mile.

VIRTUAL INFO

Participants will have from November 4 to November 19 to complete the distance.

A virtual finish will not count toward the Distinguished Participant medal.

REGISTER

Virtual registration will open along with live registration on July 12. Virtual participants also earn a unique finisher medal and participant shirt.

PARTICIPANT BIB

Registered virtual runners may download a personal participant bib to wear or display. Bibs are now avaliable.

To Download your Virtual Bib:

  • Log into your Participant Account (username is your email)
  • Click “Your Registrations”
  • Click on your MCM registration
  • Click “Download Your Virtual Bib”

CONNECT A WEARABLE

Participants have the option to link their personal wearables to their account to track their mileage and submit results. This should be done prior to starting your virtual event. Log into your participant account to view wearable options.

To sync your wearable:

  • Connect your wearable device.
  • Click on “Your devices” at the top of the screen and click “Connect” under your device.
  • Follow the steps to connect.
  • You will be prompted to log into your wearable device

SUBMITTING RESULTS

Runners are encouraged to submit their results through participant account in Haku.

Results may be submitted via a link to a public page from an app, a screenshot, a photo of a watch or treadmill or directly from a supported wearable device. Ensure to record both distance and time in your submission. Participants have until November 19, 2023 to input their finisher data.

To submit results manually:

  • Log into Participant Account
  • Click “Your Registrations”
  • Click on the specific event registration
  • Scroll to the bottom of registration information
  • Enter total finish time, distance completed and additional information.
  • Enter proof of finish time via link or photo (optional)
  • Click “Save” to complete your submission

To submit results from synced device:

  • Log into Participant Account
  • Click “Your Registrations.”
  • Select the event you are submitting time for
  • Click “Submit Activity” and “Log New Activity.”
  • Select “Add From Wearable.”
  • The data from your device will be displayed
  • Click “Select” to choose an activity to submit as your results.

FINISHER CERTIFICATES

Finisher Certificates may be accessed by clicking the arrow next to a runner name on the results page or within a runner’s Haku participant account.
