6.2 Mile Course

The MCM10K starts on Boundary Channel Drive, located within the Pentagon North parking lot. Pre-event services include the MCM Info Tent, plenty of porta johns and UPS Baggage Drop-off. Runners will be required to enter the start area via a screening zone.

Start Line

To access the MCM10K start, runners will enter the screening area located in the Pentagon North parking lot.

The start of the MCM10K presented by Aetna has relocated to the Pentagon North parking lot along Boundary Channel Drive. The start line is convenient to the Pentagon Metro station (Blue/Yellow). Runners will exit the Pentagon area onto Route 110 and follow the path of the Marathon through Rosslyn, going up Lee Highway, onto Kirkwood Road and down Spout Run.The MCM10K diverges from the MCM by making a right onto Lynn Street through the MCM Finish Festival to Route 110.The course concludes with a climb up Marshall Drive to the finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial.

Time Limit

The howitzer will fire at 9:15 a.m. officially sounding the start of the MCM10K. The MCM10K course will remain open until 11:15 a.m.

Required Minimum Pace: All MCM10K participants must maintain a 20 minute-per-mile pace.

Corrals

Runners will line up by expected finish time on the start line and will be able to choose their appropriate corral. Bib numbers are not related to corral assignments.

Water Points

WP 1: Eastbound Lee Highway between Wayne and Adams Street at Mile 2.5

The Gatorade Endurance Formula is a specialized sports drink with nearly twice the sodium and more than three times the potassium of Gatorade Thirst Quencher to help sustain hydration, maintain proper fluid balance and replace key electrolytes lost in sweat during racing.

UPS Baggage Drop Off

Runners must use the clear plastic bag provided at Packet Pick-up. UPS baggage trucks will be located in Pentagon North parking lot at the MCM10K start line. A UPS Baggage Sticker will be available for every MCM10K runner. The sticker, which is attached to the runners bib, features the runner's bib number and the assigned UPS truck to be utilized for baggage drop off and pick up on event day.

On event day, runners affix the sticker to a bag to facilitate easy identification. Do not deposit valuable items. Neither the MCM nor UPS is liable for lost items.

After the run, MCM10K participants may pick up a bag in the Finish Festival. MCM10K trucks will be staged on Wilson Boulevard.

Entertainment

The MCM10K features a wide variety of musical entertainment throughout the course. From the first mile to the last, runners and spectators are treated to inspiring artists, motivating music and exciting entertainment.

Finish Line

The MCM10K shares the finish line with the MCM. Adjacent to the Marine Corps War Memorial, runners will pass under the famed MCM arch to receive a dog tag medal from an awaiting Marine Corps lieutenant.

After taking a victory photo in front of the Memorial with MarathonFoto, MCM10K finishers receive a hospitality box which includes Dole fruit cup, Pop Chips, Curate Bar, Fig Bars, Nutella Spread with Breadsticks and a coupon from Tropical Smoothie. Many of the items are gluten free. Runners will also receive Fyffes bananas, bottled water from Wegmans and Gatorade.
