Social Media
The MCM presents Social Media Messaging for runners and spectators as part of the Marine Corps Marathon and the Marine Corps Historic Half.
Runners can have their 5k splits as well as finish time automatically posted on their personal Facebook page and/or Twitter feed so relatives, close friends, casual acquaintances, long lost associates and high school classmates will all be able to follow a runner's progress along the course in real time. Proud parents, supportive spouses and others may opt to post a beloved runner's info directly onto their Facebook page.
In addition to Facebook and Twitter updates, spectators and runners can register to receive split times via email or mobile phone using SMS text messaging. Results will be delivered instantaneously. This is an incredibly valuable tool for supporters hoping to intercept their runner along the course on event day.
Spectators and runners can register below for these tracking services. Registration is open now for Historic Half Social Media Messaging provided by University of Mary Washington, Free Lance-Star and MarathonFoto.
Whether running or supporting, everyone is encouraged to Tweet during the Historic Half Weekend using #HistoricHalf and throughout training for MCM with #37thMCM.
Remember to follow the event year round @Marine_Marathon. All MCM tweets are accessible on the official Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/MarineCorpsMarathon.
