Here's a rundown of registration news from across the upcoming MCM event schedule.
Historic Half Headlines: The 8,000 participant field is nearly half filled for the May 21, 2017 event. Registration fee is now $80 but escalates to $95 in March. The anniversary event offers all participants a technical short sleeve t-shirt, commemorative event program, amazing finisher medal, on-course hospitality and entertainment, plus access to the Healthy Lifestyle Expo and Finish Festival.
Devil Dog Data: Runners are salivating at the chance to run Hospital Hill twice, as part of the new Devil Dog Double, combo of the Semper 5ive and Historic Half. Only 600 spots are available in this event and over 2/3 have already been taken. Accept the challenge and register for this event that offers two distances and three medals on one day. The medal design is ferocious, trust us. We've seen it. You want it.
Semper 5ive Story: Registration capacity is 2,000 runners in this five-mile run on the same day as the Historic Half. Sign up now for this run from downtown Fredericksburg to the Historic Half finish line. Participants get the technical shirt and a star-adorned medal.
Quantico 100 Report: Join the on-going celebration aboard Quantico honoring the centennial by registering for this unique challenge run. The distance? It's up to you. In this event, it's about time. One hundred minutes to be exact. Runners will be challenged to run as many laps as they can within a 100 minute window on the three-mile loop course. Sign up as individuals or teams starting on Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. The evening event will be held on April 29 and conclude with a free concert.
Marine Corps 1775K Message: All finishers earn guaranteed access to a spot in the 42nd Marine Corps Marathon. This run-to-register has a 3,000 participant capacity and has traditionally sold out quickly. Last year, all spots were claimed within seven minutes. Plan to be at a keyboard with the mouse pointed at the MCM website on Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. to jump on one of these valued spots. Then, all you have to do is run 11.03 miles in Prince William Forest Park to get the Access Granted pass. And get ready to post images wearing the all-over, sublimated Marine Corps-tribute participant shirt.
Marine Corps Marathon Lottery Lowdown: The way into the MCM is through the MCM Lottery. Open from March 22-29, runners will complete the online form that may include optional purchases of Carbo Dining In tickets, MCM Brooks apparel and other items. No transactions will occur until the runner is officially registered for the MCM on March 30. If the runner is not selected, no charges will apply. The goal is that anyone who wants in can get in. If Lottery isn't friendly, join the MCM through a Charity Partner. These organizations will be unveiled in April. Another options is to secure a transfer later in the summer from a registered runner, who isn't going to make it to the MCM.
Other MCM Registration Dates: MCM Active Duty/Reserve Registration presented by GEICO Military opens on March 2. Runners who deferred from 2016 to 2017, as well as the MCM Runners Club Members may begin registering for the 42nd MCM on March 14.
