Looking for an outrageous and wild (yet family-friendly) event this summer? Run Amuck presented by Camelbak is here to thrill athletes, rowdy runners and families with MCM’s messiest mud and obstacle event. This exhilarating and dirty obstacle course is the best way to cool off– and is guaranteed to be the most selfie-worthy event of summer.

You’ve heard of other mud runs, but Run Amuck is so much more! This 3.5 mile course lets you attack a mud trench, lumber through a low crawl, beat a water blast and submerge in a super sloppy mud pit. The course is hideously hilly and weaves through the wooden terrain of Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The messy mischief happens on Saturday, June 23 aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico at Butler Stadium near the Barber Physical Activity Center. This is the same day as the Belleau Wood 8K. Motivated participants can register for both events. Registration costs $45 and is open now to everyone over the age of 8. (And thanks to the Next Generation Initiative all participants under 17 will receive 40% off). Participants can choose from multiple wave start time options.

Are you up for the challenge? The MCM is dishing all the dirt on the massive mud pits along the course.

1 – SLOG through the 20 foot long pools of mud and muck before running up the cargo nets to complete the tasks. It’s so good, the experience is on the course TWICE! Kick off the event with the first mud pool a little less than .5 mile into the course. Say ‘hello’ to a welcoming pool of sludge after completing the first nine challenges. The mud will cool you off and get you pumped up for the rest of the course.

2 – CRAWL to conquer the mud pit’s low height that’s featured in the valley of two major hills at the .75 mile point on the Run Amuck course. To get to the Pohanka Pit, you’ll run 80 feet down a major hill before crawling through the mud. The mud pit features challenges that are low to the ground – you’ll want to stay down and crawl fast! Once you dominate the mud crawl, another 80 foot hill with steep terrain awaits. To make the challenge even more exciting, at the top of the hill after the mud crawl will be a NEW FOAM TUNNEL to navigate through. Now that’s messy!

3 – TRENCHES await you in the middle of the course at mile 1.75. The mud pit trenches are the 19th obstacle and feature six foot long rows of dirt hills alternating with mud ditches. New the year are rows of logs to make the trenches even more mischievous. There are many ways to take on the trenches – run crawl or even roll. These mountains of mud are ready for you to overcome and may be the messiest encounter on the course.

4 – THE HOG SLOG. The second mud slog is the exclusive “Wilbur Pig” mud pit presented by Famous Dave’s BBQ. This mud pool is at the Mile 3 mark and is obstacle #25. Before you reach this last mud pool, you’ll take on a steep 120 foot hill before launching into the deep mud pit. Conquer the course with a refreshing Fire Truck Hose Off and Slip and Slide your way to the finish line.

The reward? Amazing memories. Slimy selfies. And a technical shirt, commemorative bib and endless memories of tearing up the course. New this year—all finishers receive a special edition challenge coin.
