The Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend is just around the corner and there are a few minor course changes for both the Historic Half and the Semper 5ive.

The new 2020 course removes the left turn onto Fall Hill near Mile 2 for Semper 5ive and Mile 10 for the Historic Half. This change will decrease the number of turns while still delivering the best running tour of historic Fredericksburg.

At the end of Riverside Drive, both courses turn right onto Fall Hill Avenue instead of the left turn made in 2019. To make up for this difference, both courses remain on Washington Avenue, an additional city block, in their respective events before returning to the original courses.

“During the after action review process following the 2019 MCHH, a series of four turns were consolidated into one flowing turn for all participants. While seeking to continuously improve runners’ experience, reducing impact to Fredericksburg residents and considering safety aspects along the course, the change will keep courses within sight of the beautiful Rappahannock River before runners attack Hospital Hill,” explained Marine Corps Marathon Organization Operations Manager, Bret Schmidt.

This year’s Marine Corps Historic Half marks 13 years of running with the Marines in the City of Fredericksburg and will be held on Sunday, May 17. Registration is still open to the “Greatest Half in History!”
