Like the autumn holiday its hitched too, the Turkey Trot 10K has its own set of traditions. Hosted aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico on Saturday, November 19, the 10K and accompanying one-mile dash will feature the most festive, Thanksgiving-themed event shirts yet again. Past participants have been adorned in apparel featuring an over-sized turkey sketch, a running Thanksgiving dinner and ‘be the Turkey’ art. This year’s design is equally seismic. The art won’t be revealed until Packet Pick-up, when runners obtain the shirts and when it is, runners will be certain to gobble them up.

The Turkey Trot shirts aren’t the only unique decor at the event. As has become custom, participants enjoy running dressed-up as pilgrims, turkeys and in other holiday-themed attire. New in 2016, the MCM Event Series will award a Best of the Turkey Trot Costume Award in three categories-men, women and group. Registration is open and moving quickly. So sign up for the fun and be sure to dress the part.
