GEORGETOWN'S CITY SPORTS TO OFFER FREE MCM TRAINING RUNS EVERY SUNDAY
City Sports, a premier specialty athletic retailer in the heart of the Georgetown district of Washington, D.C., is partnering with the MCM to host free group training runs preparing participants for "The People's Marathon." Each Sunday morning from July 27 through the week before the Oct. 26 Marathon, runners will meet at the store located at 3338 M. Street in Georgetown to train and cover a varity of distances devised to help them complete the 26.2 mile event.

MCM MUSTERS VOLUNTEERS FOR OCTOBER WEEKEND EVENTS
The U.S. Marines will attest that it takes more than a "few good men and women" to host the world-class marathon in the nation's capital and Arlington, VA during the four-day extravaganza that is MCM Weekend. The MCM has opened its volunteer program to the public enabling thousands of individuals and groups to serve between Thursday, Oct. 23 and Marathon Day, Sunday, Oct. 26. Volunteers can register online for a variety of support duties alongside U.S. Marines.

RUNNERS READY FOR RAUCOUS RUN AMUCK MUD RUN ON JUNE 14
The favorite kick off to summer time adventure, Run Amuck, the mud and obstacle run offering plenty of messy fun for ages eight and above, returns to Marine Corps Base Quantico on Saturday, June 14. There are limited spots to register for the event that presents 21 ardous challenges, military-style PT stations and enormous pits of ooey-gooey mud. Participants will journey through Run Amuck's four-mile quest in separate waves from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Runners will want to take dad on this messy escapade through "mudder nature" as Run Amuck is held the day prior to Father's Day - a gift more unique than the traditional tie.

Boasting a runner tracking service that distributed timing results electronically and a robust social media campaign, the Marine Corps Historic  Half marathon held during the weekend of May 16-18 in Fredericksburg, VA reached over half million individuals. The event hosted 7,545 runners in three distance events including the Historic Half marathon, Historic 10K and Semper Fred 5K.

RUNNERS "GEAR UP" TO REGISTER FOR MCM10K AND MCM KIDS RUN
Two of the most celebrated events of MCM Weekend, the MCM10K and MCM Kids Run, open for registration tomorrow, Wednesday, May 21. Runners from across the country will participate in the events hosted this October in Arlington, VA and the nation's capital. MCM10K participants will start on the National Mall and enjoy an epic finish on the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA on Oct. 26, the same day as the MCM. Kids ages 5 to 12 can register for their own brand of MCM Weekend fun while being cheered by U.S. Marines. The MCM Kids Run will be held the day prior to the Marathon on Oct. 25. Both the MCM10K and MCM Kids Run open registration at noon Eastern.

REGISTRATION FOR QUANTICO TRI OPENS MAY 21
Registration for the sprint distance Quantico Tri, hosted by the Marine Corps Marathon will begin Wednesday, May 21 at noon Eastern. The August 24 event is increasing in size to accommodate 750 athletes this year. The $95 registration free (plus a small processing fee) includes a free pasta dinner and information session for all registered participants.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA RUNNER SETS RECORD AT SECOND-LARGEST HISTORIC HALF
It has been an epic day at the Marine Corps Historic half in Fredericksburg, VA with two course records set and the second-most finishers (6,020) in the event's seven-year history. Local runner and Historic Half record holder Tim Young crossed the finish in 1:05:09, break his own record of 1:06:57. Erika Weidman, 23 of Alexandria, VA also broke the women's Historic 10K course record by six seconds as she completed today's event in 44:28. The Historic Half, Historic 10K and Semper Fred 5K started simultaneously at 7 a.m. with cheering spectators lining each course. Together, the three events garnered a total of 7,545 finishers.

A limited number of 2,000 entries were available through a partnership with GEICO for military members currently serving on Active Duty or in the Reserve. Military members who registered for the 39th MCM during this period received a 15 percent discount off the full registration cost of $110, paying $93.50.

MCM OPENS LOTTERY TO INSPIRED RUNNERS
Starting at noon Eastern on Sunday, Feb. 23, the Marine Corps Marathon Lottery will be accessible on the MCM website, remaining open for 21 days before closing at noon on March 15. The Lottery is a new format for the MCM, which has been conducting registration on a first come, first serve basis, resulting in two-hour record sell outs of entries for the past two years. A frenzied registration will no longer challenge runners who now how three weeks to declare their intent. The last time the MCM conducted a lottery was 2004.

The MCM and U.S. Marines will partner with Sodexo this week to host Healthy School Award ceremonies to two local elementary schools in Northern Virginia on Feb. 5 and 6. The two schools, Claremont Immersion Elementary School in Arlington and James K. Polk Elementary in Alexandria, VA are among the top five schools who gathered with the greatest student participation for the one-mile MCM Kids Run, held in Arlington during MCM Weekend in October 2013.

MCM YIELDS $88 MILLION FOR LOCAL ECONOMIES

The MCM, third largest in the United States, is a robust source of tourism dollars yielding $88 million in money spent throughout Arlington, VA and Washington, DC, according to an economic impact study conducted by Towson University's Regional Economic Studies Institute. The study, "Economic and Fiscal Impact Analysis of the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon," was conducted following MCM Weekend, held Oct. 24-27, 2013.
