MCM Charity Partners

Charity logo_2010The 2012 Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) saw nearly 5,000 of its participants running to raise funds for a charitable organization through the MCM Charity Partner program. Combined, these charity runners raised more than $3.4 million for various causes, making the MCM an impactful event for advancing charity work and generating awareness for all associated groups.

In the January edition of "Runners World," the magazine recognized the MCM as the "best marathon for charities."

Money raised through MCM participation has very real and powerful benefits. Lisa Horowitz, Co-founder of Swab a Cheek, Save a Life, shared with the MCM just one example of how runners' charity participation can translate into a positive outcome.

"Thanks to the MCM being our main fundraiser, Swab a Cheek, Save a Life has had enough funds to enroll over 3,000 new donors in the bone marrow registry and facilitated four lifesaving transplants," Horowitz says. "That means the MCM contributed to saving four lives. We think that is amazing! As a transplant patient myself whose life was saved by a total stranger from the registry, I thank you!"

While public registration for the MCM on March 27 is again expected to be brisk (only 2 hours and 41 minutes to sell out in 2012), entries have been secured by the 2013 MCM Charity Partners. To run with a charity in the 38th MCM, check out the list of MCM Charity Partners when it is posted in February and contact an organization directly to arrange registration and participation.

2013 Update
The roster of 2013 MCM Charity Partners has been finalized. A complete list of participating organizations with entries for the 2013 MCM will be available on this webpage soon. Through these charities, thousands of individuals will have the opportunity to run "The People's Marathon" while raising funds in support of a personal cause, training and finding the shared inspiration to go 26.2.Organizations with questions or an interest in the 2014 MCM Charity Partner program should contact Allan Aquino
