MARINE CORPS MARATHON TO AWARD 500,000TH FINISHER
While completing his first marathon at the 39th MCM, Washington, D.C. runner Joshua Moscow, 23, made an enduring mark on the event, becoming the 500,000th finisher in MCM history. Moscow was the 7,320th runner to cross the finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial on Sunday, Oct. 26.

RUNNERS GOBBLE UP TURKEY TROT 10K AS HIGH SCHOOL COACH CAPTURES CONSECUTIVE WINS
Capturing his second consecutive win, Fredericksburg, VA's Stephen Harrison led 978 runners to the finish of the Turkey Trot 10K on Mairne Corps Base Quantico today during the cold, crisp autumn morning. Harrison, 26, easily defended his title, winning the Turkey Trot 10K with a five-minute lead over the field of participants hailing from 19 states and Washington, D.C. Harrison completed this year's Turkey Trot in 33:56, just shy of his win last year at 32:26.

U.S. ARMY CLAIMS BIG WINS AT 39TH MARINE CORPS MARATHON
The U.S. Army captured first-place wins at the 39th MCM in both individual and team categories. Army Spc Samuel Kosgei, 30, of Junction City, KS ran 26.2 miles in 2:22:12, finishing first among 19,661 total participants. Army Capt. Meghan Curran, 38, of Moorestown, NJ completed her first-place run in 2:51:47. The U.S. Army elite Running Team also beat out the competition in the Armed Forces Challenge, a friendly rivalry between military service branches.

MCM HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO TO SPUR ENTHUSIASM ACROSS NATION'S CAPITAL

Thousands of MCM, MCM10K and MCM Kids Run participants and their supporters will attend the three-day extravaganza held at the DC Armory. MCM TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE ON OCTOBER 24
The MCM invites media to attend the pre-Marathon Press Conference on Friday, Oct. 24 beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Actor Sean Astin, who will start and run the 39th MCM, will join Medal of Honor Recipient Ret. Marine Cpl. William Kyle Carpenter during the press conference that focuses on MCM participants and U.S. Marine support of the celebrated Marathon.

ACTOR SEAN ASTIN TO START AND RUN 39TH MCM
Actor Sean Astin, best known for his title role as "Rudy," and for his recurring role in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, will start and run the 39th MCM on Sunday, Oct. 26 in Arlington, VA. Astin, who currently stars in "The Strain" on the FX Networks, will join the U.S. Marines and thousands of participants to run his first MCM.

MARINE CORPS MARATHON PARTICIPANTS TO ENJOY TRANSPORTATION EASE
Arriving at the MCM and MCM10K on Sunday, Oct. 26 is easy for the thousands of runners and spectators who will enjoy early and extended Metro service beginning at 5 a.m. on Marathon Day. The MCM has partnered with Metro to offer the "OORAH" SmarTrip card that can be reused beyond MCM Weekend, which begins on Thursday, Oct. 23. In addition, free shuttle service is available throughout Marathon Day for MCM participants and spectators arriving at Runners Village that morning and from the Finish Festival. The 39th MCM will start on Route 110 in Arlington, while the MCM10K begins on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Both events start at 7:55 a.m.

MCM10K Sells All Entries for October 26 Event in Nation's Capital
All entries for the MCM10K presented by Aetna now are sold out for the Oct. 26 event that includes 9,500 participants. The MCM10K begins at 7:55 a.m. on the National Mall in Washington, DC and finishes alongside the 39th MCM on the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA.

MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT TO SKYDIVE INTO 39TH MCM
Medal of Honor recipient and retired U.S. Marine Cpl. William Kyle Carpenter will accompany 11 parachutists in the skies over Arlington, VA on Sunday, Oct. 26 to deliver a 7,800 sqare-foot American flag at the start of the 39th MCM. Carpenter, who received the Medal of Honor for saving a fellow Marine during the Global War on Terrorism, will skydive in tandem. After skydiving, Carpenter will embark on his second consecutive MCM, joining hundreds of marathoners participating with the Semper Fi Fund, a MCM Charity Partner dedicated to assisting wounded service members.
