School Award

Held on Oct. 25 in Arlington, VA, the MCM Kids Run hosted nearly 1800 students from Northern Virginia schools as part of the Healthy School Award challenge. The top five schools with the most students registered are honored with the Healthy School Award, including a monetary donation to their physical education department from MCM partner Sodexo and a rockin' all-school assembly provided by the National Watermelon Promotion Board.

The schools receiving this honor are all returning champions, a testament to the coordinated effort of physical education teachers and PTA groups from each school. Alexandria City School's James K. Polk Elementary brought 324 students; George Mason 255 students and Mount Vernon Community School 211 students. Lynbrook Elementary in Springfield, VA saw participation of 311 students and Arlington County's Claremont Immersion School group consisted of 253 students. Each winning school hosts an assembly featuring MCM mascots Miles and Molly, U.S. Marines from Marine Corps Base Quantico, and an energetic presentation of nationally acclaimed production Jump with Jill. In addition to the Healthy School Award presentation, each student will receive a nutritious snack provided by Sodexo. Additional prizes will be provided Silver Diner.
