2013 MCM10KParticipants in the MCM10K (6.2 miles) presented by Aetna will run the streets of the nation's capital and finish at the iconic Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA. The new start is located near the intersection of 4th St and Madison Dr. on the National Mall, directly in front of the National Gallery of Art West Building. The first two miles of the course tours the National Mall from the Capitol, past the Smithsonian Castle. After two miles, the course crosses the Potomac River on the 14th Street Bridge and runs to Crystal City. The MCM10K course diverts from the marathon's by making a right onto 15th Street.  After arriving at the Pentagon, MCM10K runners will complete their 6.2 miles in parallel to the MCM, finishing at the Marine Corps War Memorial (printable course map).

Opening festivities begin at 7:45 a.m. with the start at 7:55 a.m. Runners are required to be able to complete the event in two hours, or change to 20 minute per mile pace. Due to safety concerns, the MCM10K's USATF-certified course cannot accommodate wheelchair and handcycle participants.

In 2015, the MCM10K presented by Aetna will host the 2015 RRCA 10K Championship. Top performing runners will be presented RRCA Championship awards for Open, Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+) and Senior Grand Masters (60+) categories for both men and women.

Metro remains the most convenient means to arrive at the MCM10K start with the Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station (green/yellow) and the L'Enfant Plaza at the two closest stations (both approximately .3 of a mile from the start). The Metro system opens at 5:00 a.m. on event morning. There is no shuttle service to the MCM10K nor is there any designated MCM10K parking location, as road closures for the marathon will affect the area surrounding the course. Convenient post-race Metro stations are located in Rosslyn (blue/orange) and Arlington Cemetery (blue).
