Health and Fitness Expo by GE

GEThe 2014 Health and Fitness Expo by GE will be held at the DC Armory at 2001 E Capitol St, SE Washington, DC 20003.  Take the orange/blue Metro lines to the Stadium/Armory station and support the MCM's green initiatives.  Free parking is available in Lot 3 outside the Armory.

  • Thursday, October 23  4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, October 24      10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 25  9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Move through Packet Pick-up hosted on the first level of the Armory then enjoy 200+ exhibitors and vendors featuring everything runners and their support teams want including running apparel and gear, training and nutrition products, food samples, MCM licensed merchandise and entertainment! This event is free to the public.

Join the fun and festivities of the opening ceremonies on Thursday, October 23 at 3:30 p.m. in front of the DC Armory.  The excitement includes a performance by the Marine Corps Base Quantico Party Band, the ribbon breaking ceremony and the presentation of the first SuperSize Goodie Bag.  Those runners among the first in line at the Expo will have the opportunity to win the SuperSize bag.

On Saturday, October 25, meet the special guests in the Military Benefits Association booth at the Health & Fitness Expo including Fox News personality, Colonel (Ret.) David Hunt from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. and two-time Super Bowl champ, former Redskins player Dexter Manley from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

 

       
Packet Pick-up

Runners will need to retrieve their race materials at Packet Pick-up, part of the MCM Health and Fitness Expo by GE, located inside the DC Armory. Race materials include the participant bib number, B-tag and MCM Event Program.

Expo2UPS Baggage Sticker will be attached to the reverse side of every MCM and MCM10K bib.  The sticker features the runner's bib number and the assigned UPS truck to be utilized for baggage drop off and pick up on event day.  Carefully peel the front of the sticker off the backing and attached to the clear plastic bag to facilitate easy identification by UPS volunteers.

Runners will then proceed to the Health and Fitness Expo by GE to receive their coveted mock neck participant shirt, safety pins, a commemorative MCM patch and the informative event program.

To pick up their items, runners need to download and print their E-Confirmation Card in early October. A photo ID is also required. If you did not get your e-card, please come to Information at Packet Pick-up with your ID.

SuperSize Goodie Bags

Expo1Here is the most anticipated announcement of the year--the list of items in the 39 MCM SuperSize Goodie Bags.  Follow the MCM on Twitter for a chance to win one of the 39 super-sized extra special goodie bags to be given away during MCM Weekend.  This beloved, frantic tradition has become a fun part of MCM Weekend sending runners scrambling around the Expo, racing to special sites and doing wild stunts to claim the coveted prize.

MCM SuperSize goodie bags contain valued products from MCM sponsors and will be randomly distributed at MCM Weekend events by notifying runners when, where and what is necessary to win the next bag. Prizes include: CityBucks form City Sports; Capitals and Wizards tickets from Comcast SportsNet;tickets to the 2014 Military Bowl; gift cards to Dunkin Donuts, shoebuy.com, cateandchloe.com and Silver Diner; ipad minis from First Command and more!  Runners may also improve chances of getting one of the special bags by being among the first in line at the Health and Fitness Expo ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 23 at 3:30 p.m.

Even the SuperSize bag itself is a prize.  Provided by priorLife, the bag is made from the actual MCM finish line banners.  Please note, not all bags contain all prizes.


Shoe Donation
Worn down your running shoes?  One World Running will have a shoe collection bin at the entrance of the MCM Health & Fitness Expo presented by GE so runners can drop off old running shoes.  Donated shoes are distributed to many locations world-wide including to those who recently joined the U.S. military but are financially unable to purchase running shoes to train. In addition to helping future military, donated shoes will go to upcoming distributions including Cheyenne and Arapahoe Native Americans, Cameroon and Haiti.

Security
Security measures also will be in place at the Health & Fitness Expo presented by GE as all attendees enter the front doors of the DC Armory for Packet Pick-up. The Expo is open free to the public from Oct. 23 through Oct. 25.

All MCM and MCM10K participants are required to present their E-Card in either printed form, or on a phone, to obtain their official bib and event-day materials. Proxy pick-up remains available for MCM and MCM10K participants.

In order to have a designated individual pick up the packet for a registered participant, the runner must sign his or her E-Card and provide the individual attending the Expo a photocopy of their Photo ID (driver’s license, government ID, passport). The proxy will be required to sign the form and also show and provide a photocopy of their own Photo ID.

 

Vendor Info
The MCM Health and Fitness Expo, supported by nearly 300 military and civilian volunteers, offers more than 200 booths and interactive centers for enjoyment by an expected 100,000 runners and guests. MCM and MCM10K participants are affluent, educated, active individuals.  Awarding no prize money, "The People’s Marathon" boasts a race field void of elite athletes, instead celebrating the accomplishments and dedication of its runners who hail from every state and more than 50 countries.
