MCM Weekend from October 23 to 25 Offers Something for Everyone

The MCM hosts a thrilling weekend of events welcoming runners, spectators and the public.  The weekend kicks off with the Health & Fitness Expo featuring running products and access to experts and culminates in the 40th MCM, as 30,000 runners from all 50 states and 54 countries take to the start line. 

Health & Fitness Expo
Walter E. Washington Convention Center
Friday, Oct. 23 through Saturday, Oct. 24, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
More than 100,000 will visit the Expo showcasing more than 200 exhibitors and interactive displays with free massages, food sampling, and direct access to running industry experts. All MCM, MCM10K and MCM Kids Run participants will pick up their event-day packets and participant shirts at the Expo, which is free and open to the public. 

MCM Pep Rally
Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill
Friday, Oct. 23, 7-9 p.m.
This high energy event sponsored by First Command celebrates the MCM participants, providing a program which includes a Q&A session with industry icons, great music , cheerleaders, and giveaways. Emceed by industry legend Bart Yasso,this event promises to be fun and informative! Be sure to have your questions ready.

American Medical Athletic Association's 24th Annual Sports Medicine Symposium at the Marine Corps Marathon. The 2015 symposium will be held on Friday, October 23, at the John T. Hazel Conference Center in the Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington. Attendees will spend a day listening to lectures, participating in workshops, attending a Grand Rounds/Keynote lecture, and spending time with colleagues during an onsite lunch and dinner hosted by the American Medical Athletic Association (AMAA). Category 1 credit hours will be awarded for lectures, workshops, and time spent volunteering for those providing care in medical tents on race day. AAFP Prescribed credit and NATA credit will also be awarded.

Runners bRUNch
MCM Finish Line

Saturday, October 24, 10:30 a.m.
Held on the morning prior to the 40th MCM, the Runners bRUNch will be served in the VIP tent adjacent to the MCM finish line. While dining on a catered brunch, participants will hear featured speaker Bart Yasso offer tips and tales from the road and visualize success at "The People's Marathon". The event will conclude with the ringing of military service songs from the Netherlands Carillon. 

HKFRMCM Kids Run 
Pentagon North parking lot
Saturday, Oct. 24, 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
More than 3,500 kids ages 5-12 will participate in the one-mile fun run that also offers a full day of entertainment at the family fitness called Camp Miles.  The kids will run in five waves from 9:30 to 11:40 while enjoying music and entertainment, many other team and organizational mascots, Fit Arlington challenges, and other great activities hosted by the National Children's Museum, and "FAMILY Magazine."


MCM Runners Conference
Carnegie Library, Washington D.C. 
Friday, Oct. 23 through Saturday, Oct. 24, noon - 5 p.m.
The MCM will host the MCM Runners Conference presented by Leidos, a series of seven informative panel discussions. Sessions will feature Jeff Galloway - legendary Olympian and Run Walk Run coach, an MCM Final Prep panel, and opportunity to meet and greet the MCM Director, a chance to hear from CNN correspondent Tom Foreman on his running journey, and conclude with a Runners World panel offering tips on how to run your best MCM yet. Each 60 minute session will feature running experts and specialists providing insights, anecdotes, advice, and information to best prepare runners for the road ahead. 


Carbo Dining-In 
Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill
Saturday, Oct. 24, 6 - 8 p.m.
In the spirit of traditional military dinners called the 
"Dining-In," the MCM hosts a final carb-load pasta dinner for runners, and their families and friends. Period entertainment will be provided by the Victory Belles, a WWII inspired group performing patriotic tunes of the time.  
 

MCM10K
National Mall
Sunday, Oct. 25, 7:55 a.m.
The MCM10K includes 10,000 participants who will run 6.2 miles across the 14th Street Bridge, into Crystal City and Arlington to finish at the Marine Corps War Memorial. The start line is located across the river from the MCM. Parking is not available, and runners are urged to take the Metro to the Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station (green/yellow) stop on event morning. 

 

40th Marine Corps Marathon
Sunday, Oct. 25, 7:55 a.m.
Registered participants will embark on the 26.2-mile journey in the 40th MCM starting at 7:55 a.m., with live 90-minute coverage beginning on Comcast SportsNet at 7:00 a.m. Comcast SportsNet will conduct live broadcast from the MCM start with highlights of the MCM's background and history.  The MCM promises a spectacular start with international flags from 54 different nations and the firing of the M2A1 Howitzer.

MCM Finish Festival 
Rosslyn, VA
Sunday, Oct. 25, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
After enjoying hospitality and posing with MarathonFoto for a picture in front of the iconic Iwo Jima Monument, 40th MCM and MCM10K finishers will proceed to the MCM Finish Festival in Rosslyn, VA. Spectators can "check their runner" throughout the day at the HP booth.  Runners and spectators can visit the Brooks Finisher Store. At Family Link Up, participants will meet up with friends and family. They can also obtain a free massage, listen to the Marine Corps Base Quantico Party Band wile enjoying a beer sample from Michelob Ultra and visit Rosslyn's Restaurant Row as entertainers perform throughout the day. MCM Announcer Rob Powers will emcee and play music from the Finish Festival platform, giving runners, spectators and guests event updates. Runners also will present their baggage claim tickets at the UPS baggage trucks located on Wilson Boulevard to retrieve belongings.

Crystal City Family Festival
This family friendly zone offers spectators an opportunity to provide a final encouraging shout out as the runners pass miles 22 and 23 of the 40th Marine Corps Marathon and miles 3 and 4 of the MCM 10K in Crystal City. 

This year's Crystal City Family Festival features a variety of activities including face painting, moon bounces, balloon animals, circus activities and more!
