Transportation
Runners and spectators can take advantage of a variety of options for reaching the MCM start line.
METRO
Service begins at 5:00 a.m. for MCM runners and spectators on race morning.
Marathon runners should use the Pentagon Station (blue or yellow line) to access the start line through Runners Village in the Pentagon North Parking lot. This location hosts pre-race UPS Baggage Drop off. Arlington Cemetery (blue line) station will not open until 8:30 a.m., after the official MCM start. On event day, this station may only be used to access to finish area or to leave post-race. The MCM10K start is convenient to the Smithsonian Metro (blue/orange line).
Metro will operate additional Blue Line trains from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Blue Line trains will operate every 7 1/2 minutes from Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory stations. On the Green Line, runners are reminded that buses will replace trains between L'Enfant Plaza and Southern Avenue and four stations - Waterfront, Navy Yard, Anacostia and Congress Heights - will be closed as Metro installs new track switches.
Runners are encouraged to pre-purchase farecards. On marathon day, it is recommended that runners store their Metro card in a zip lock bag so it does not get wet and demagnetize during the race. Wet farecards will not feed properly through Metro's machines.
Getting around is easy with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro). Be sure to get your map, check fares and schedules.
MCM10K
Metro remains the most convenient means to arrive at the MCM10K start with the Smithsonian station (blue/orange line) being located directly at the start. The Metro system opens at 5:00 a.m. on Marathon morning. There is no shuttle service to the MCM10K start nor is there any designated MCM10K parking location, as road closures for the marathon will affect the area surrounding the course. Convenient post-race Metro stations are located in Rosslyn (blue/orange line) and Arlington Cemetery (blue line).
SHUTTLES
Pre-race shuttle will run from 23rd & Crystal Drive in Crystal City to Runners Village in the Pentagon North Parking Lot beginning at 5:30 a.m. Post-race shuttles will be located at the base of the Finish Festival on Oak Street and Wilson Blvd.
Metro and post-race shuttles are located at the west end of the Finish Festival. The post-race shuttles return runners and spectators to 23rd and Crystal Drive in Crystal City (blue/yellow lines).
PARKING
Free parking is available in Crystal City at the corner of 23rd & Crystal Drive. Pre-race shuttle service from this parking location to Runners Village begins at 5:30 a.m. Additionally, runners coming from Virginia may wish to park at the Vienna Metro Station (orange line) or Franconia/Springfield Station (blue line) parking deck and take a short Metro ride to the event. Post-race shuttles will return runners and spectators to 23rd & Crystal Drive in Crystal City.
