2012 Irish Sprint

Course

Prince William Forest Park is a 15,000 acre National Park located at I-95 Exit 150b, next to Marine Corps Base Quantico. The park's 37 miles of hiking trails and 21 miles of bicycle routes traverse the largest piedmont forest in the National Parks system and the scenic Quantico Creek. The park was founded during the dark days of the great depression as an outdoor summer camp for urban children. The Civilian Conservation Corps construction hundreds of cabins in the park which were used by the Office of Strategic Services as spy and special operations training camp during World War II. Today, the historic cabins and surrounding forest are a testament to our nation's triumph over past hardships and an inspiration for our national future.  Take the Irish Sprint Interactive Tour!

The Irish Sprint 10K will begin at 8:00 a.m. on March 17. The event will include four waves of runners launching every two minutes. Participants must maintain an 18 minute-per-mile pace to meet the course time requirements.

TRANSPORTATION & PARKING
Runners, spectators and volunteers are required to ride shuttles to the Irish Sprint 10K start in Prince William Forest Park. There is no onsite parking in the National Park. Shuttle service will begin at 6:00 a.m. transporting runners from two locations, the Commuter Lot at Route 1 and 234 and Quantico Center parking lot off 234, directly adjacent to the MCM Event Series HQ Hotel, the Holiday Inn. Shuttles will run continuously between 6:00-7:45 a.m. Return shuttles for finishers will begin at 8:30 a.m. All buses will be clearly marked with signs noting their destination.

WP1 - Taylor Farm Road and Old Black Top Road
WP2 - Scenic Drive and N. Orenda Road

Roaming medics located along course with a main medical station located at the Finish Line.

 

FINISH LINE BEER GARDEN
Mic Ultra Slainte!  Runners are invited to celebrate their 10K accomplishment in the Mic Ultra Beer Garden featuring samples of green beer.  All runners 21 and over must show ID for entrance to the beer garden.  To obtain a sample, runners must provide the Mic Ultra tear-off coupon located on the bottom of the official runner bib.  May your heart be light and happy, May your smile be big and wide, And may your pockets always have a coin or two inside!


TIMINGEvent Series Bib Back
The Irish Sprint 10K utilizes Chronotrack Timing Systems, Inc. to record the results of runners. Each runner is provided a Disposable Timing Tag (B-tag) as part of their race materials. The B-Tag is a disposable UHF RFID tag that stays mounted on the runner’s bib.
