Course
The Crossroads 4-miler offers runners of all ages a chance to chase down Marine Corps History. Starting at the Quantico Center in Stafford, the 4-mile run will cross the Stafford County/Prince William County border of Chopawamsic Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River. The first three miles run parallel to Marine Corps Base Quantico, known as the "Crossroads of the Marine Corps" as it is home to Marine Corps University and many of the continuing leadership schools required for Marines. The final mile follows the hallowed ground of the Semper Fidelis Memorial Park above the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
Semper Fidelis Memorial Park overlooks the National Museum of the Marine Corps. It is a place of remembrance and reflection, dedicated to the service of all Marines. Along the path, monuments have been erected to honor various Marine Corps organizations and those who served in them, benches are provided for visitors to pause and contemplate. Commemorative bricks line portions of the paths throughout Semper Fidelis Memorial Park. Family members and friends have donated bricks engraved with the names of their loved ones to forever attest to the honor, courage and commitment that embody the Marine Corps. The Crossroads 4-Miler finishes against the backdrop of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, in front of legendary "Iron Mike," the artistic statue depicting the individual Marine spirit.
