MCM Event Series
New distances, imposing challenges, glorious finish lines await just one thing ... your commitment to participate in the 2013 MCM Event Series. Held aboard or adjacent to Marine Corps Base Quantico, the Series celebrates the accomplishment of distance running by wrapping each event in a unique experience that showcases the organizational excellence of the United States Marine Corps. In 2013, the MCM Event Series reintroduces the 17.75K distance, welcomes back the National Museum of the Marine Corps finish line and unveils a brand new triathlon. Add those experiences to the wildly popular Run Amuck and the classic Turkey Trot for a full calendar of excitement and success.Whether running a 11.03 miles to secure a guaranteed entry to the Marine Corps Marathon in March, sloshing through mud pits, or taming the triple-tiered challenge of the triathlon, the MCM Event Series offers runners of all abilities a destination run, conveniently accessible in Northern Virginia. Experience the grandeur of a MCM-organized event in a low pressure setting complete with the massive red arches, dancing bulldog mascots, supportive sponsors, motivating music and exceptional Marine support.
Runners are encouraged to push for a PR, aspire for an age award, focus on family fitness or run for fun. The MCM Event Series welcome Marines, local participants, runners from afar and new comers to running challenges hosted from March through November 2013.
VA Runner Distinguished Participation Medal
VA Runner is proud to recognize a dedicated community of runners who register for and finish events during Historic Half Weekend and as part of the 2013 MCM Event Series. Every runner who finishes either the Marine Corps Historic Half, Historic 10K or Semper Fred 5K on May 19 plus Run Amuck (June), Crossroads 4-Miler (September) and Turkey Trot 10K (November) will be presented a special participation medal for a year-long commitment to running. In addition to receiving the limited edition medal, award winners who wear the medal into the VA Runner store will receive a special one-time 30 percent discount off all non-sale items.
