MCM Event Series

Held aboard or adjacent to Marine Corps Base Quantico, the MCM Event Series celebrates the accomplishment of distance running by wrapping each event in a unique experience that showcases the organizational excellence of the United States Marine Corps.  In 2014, the MCM Event Series hosts the unique 17.75K distance, the wildly popular Run Amuck and the classic Turkey Trot.

Whether running a 11.03 miles to secure a guaranteed entry to the Marine Corps Marathon in April, sloshing through mud pits, or taming the triple-tiered challenge of the triathlon,  the MCM Event Series offers runners of all abilities a destination run, conveniently accessible in Northern Virginia.  Experience the grandeur of a MCM-organized event in a low pressure setting complete with the massive red arches, dancing bulldog mascots, supportive sponsors, motivating music and exceptional Marine support.

Runners are encouraged to push for a PR, aspire for an age award, focus on family fitness or run for fun. The MCM Event Series welcome Marines, local participants, runners from afar and new comers to running challenges hosted from April through November 2014.

VA Runner to recognize frequent finishers in 2014;
Eligible runners should register for Turkey Trot 10K

To earn this distinction, participants must have completed Run Amuck in June and either the Marine Corps Historic Half, Historic 10K or Semper Fred 5K in May plus the Turkey Trot 10K to be held on November 22.  All qualified Distinguished Participants will receive a stunning custom medal, as well as access to special events hosted by VA Runner, the high end specialty running store in Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia since 1999.

Introduced in 2013, the VA Runner Distinguished Participant award serves as an incentive to make an on-going commitment to health and fitness that spans the entire MCM event season.  More than 120 runners took this call to action last year and were presented with Distinguished Participation medals.  Currently, more than 300 runners remain eligible for the 2014 designation, needing only to register for and complete the Turkey Trot 10K to complete this challenge.

In addition to the special award ceremony at the Turkey Trot, Distinguished Participants will be invited to a special Appreciation Night on December 16 at VA Runner Woodbridge including a shopping discount, recognition item giveaway and refreshments.  These runners will also be invited to both VA Runner locations in January 2015 for a gear-up event with special discounts and more as runners make plans to register for 2015 MCM events.

To qualify, runners must be officially registered for an event and may not obtain a bib from another registered participant.  When registering, runners are requested to use their full first and last names.  By registering as "Elizabeth Smith" for the Historic Half, "Beth Smith" at Run Amuck, and "Liz Smith" for the Turkey Trot 10K, status as a Distinguished Participant may be hard to verify and delay presentation of the award.
