Course

The 3.1 mile course starts near the intersection of Route 1 (also known as Jefferson Davis Highway), and Fall Hill Avenue. The Semper Fred 5K will start at the Fredericksburg Shopping Center located at the intersection of Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) and Fall Hill Avenue. Shuttle buses will transport runners from the Central Park Walmart to the Semper Fred start.

Runners then turn right at Mary Washington Boulevard onto the Mary Washington Healthcare campus. Runners continue along the boulevard as it turns left and continues up Hospital Hill, where Semper Fred 5K participants will "test their mettle" by tackling the noted elevation climb for the first time in the event's history.

Along Mile 2, Semper Fred participants will turn right onto Care Way Drive and continue toward the traffic circle at Hospital Drive, remaining with the traffic pattern.

Runners then make a right onto Cowan Boulevard where they will travel over the Route 95 expressway as they complete Mile 2. The Semper Fred course continues to take runners along Cowan Boulevard and under the impressive aerial display of the American flag, before turning them right onto Carl D. Silver Parkway.

Semper Fred 5K participants continue to traverse through Central Park, crossing Fall Hill Avenue where spectators are cheering along the final portion of the course to the Semper Fred 5K finish!

TIMING 
The Semper Fred 5K utilizes Chronotrack Timing Systems, Inc. to record the results of runners. Each runner is provided a Disposable Timing Tag (B-tag) as part of their race materials. The B-Tag is a disposable UHF RFID tag that stays mounted on the runner’s bib.
