Mike Corrado to Perform at Historic Half Finish Line

Mike CorradoIn a special presentation to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon, singer/songwriter and U.S. Marine Mike Corrado will perform live at the Historic Half finish line. LtCol Corrado, an active duty Marine serving as operations officer for the Wounded Warrior regiment on Marine Corps Base Quantico, will usher runners across the finish line performing motivating and celebratory tunes with a distinct Marine Corps energy. Known for the singles "Stand" and "On My Watch Tonight," Corrado has been featured nationally in media outlets like CNN, ABC, CBS, Rolling Stone Magazine and American Forces Radio & Television and as the opening act for the Black Eyed Peas, Edwin McCain, Train, Bon Jovi and John Mayer.

The high energy of 96.9 Classic Rock will "rock" runners along the Historic Half course.  Home of "Brady in the Morning", 96.9 plays the favorite classic rock bands, including the Eagles, Tom Petty and Aerosmith amid the Billboard roaster of traditional rockers.

In Mile 12, runners pass under the enormous, impressive aerial display of the American Flag, displayed high above the course by the Fredericksburg Fire Department and the Chancellor Fire and Rescue squad.

The Band of Brothers USMC Motorcycle Riding Club is comprised of Retired, Former and Active Duty Marines and FMF Corpsman, dedicated to supporting veterans, Marine Corps related functions, charitable organizations and to keeping POW/MIA awareness alive.

Blue-Gray Therapy Dogs are certified therapy dog teams who share love and provide comfort to the surrounding community through a variety of animal-assisted therapy programs and activities.

Bruiser is a rock & roll band from Fredericksburg, VA. They play classic rock from the 60's, 70's and 80's adding their own unique style.

Cheer Fusion All Stars is a competitive cheerleading and dance organization in Fredericksburg, VA that offers dance, cheerleading and tumbling classes competitive teams for children and adults.  Cheer Fusion has received countless high prestige honors over the years, including National, State and Grand Champion titles, High Point Winners, Best Stunts & Pyramid Award, Most Entertaining Awards, Choreography Awards, US Finals Paid Bibs, National US Finals Rankings and American Cheer and Dance Academy 2011 Coach of the Year.

With 11 years of solo, as well as chamber and ensemble playing experience, Wyton’s repertoire ranges from Bach to the Beatles, with classical music receiving most of his attention. He has performed extensively at venues throughout the Northeast including St. Paul’s Chapel and St. Peter’s Church in New York City. In addition to his studies and performance interests, he has been teaching guitar students for over eight years. Wyton is currently teaching at studios in Ashburn, Berryville, and Winchester, Virginia.

Doug Marshall’s band of talented musicians is fresh, spontaneous and fun, drawing its members from the hills and hollers of Virginia.  The group performs on guitar, string bass, banjo, mandolin
, fiddle, and Dobro with a colorful combination of traditional bluegrass sounds.

One of the hottest quartets in the mid-Atlantic, Escapade generates excitement and brings their unique style, energy and humor everywhere they perform! This dynamic foursome is comprised of a barbershop junkie lead (Sherry), a busy working mom (Laura), a preacher’s wife/computer geek with an empty nest (Donna) and an Immigration Enforcement Officer-come-woman of leisure retiree (Anne). Jazz, pop, country, swing, do-wop or barbershop straight up—Escapade does it all!

Classically trained in voice, piano, and 'cello, Flo Anito began her singer/songwriter career at age 16 when she got her hands on her first guitar. Already rewarded for her musicality with All-State recognition and roles in Summer-stock theatre, songwriting came naturally to this young talent who has quickly proven herself a prolific writer of thought provoking jazzy pop songs.

FREDERICKSBURG CLASSIC AND MUSCLE CAR CLUB

Look for the Fredericksburg Classic and Muscle Car Club at the Historic Half. Established in 1995, the club has about 50 members who gather for community service projects. They participate in cruises for wounded soldiers and for young cancer patients. Car club members also participate annually to help needy families during the holidays. “Giving back is our passion,” says club president Sue Wilson.

   
Fredericksburg Elk Lodge  FREDERICKSBURG ELK LODGE

The Fredericksburg Elks Lodge 875, located at 11309 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA.  We are a community-oriented organization that supports a number of Veterans and Youth Programs, including the Wounded Warriors Project, and a very active Drug Awareness Program.  We enjoy participate in community events because we believe that by developing relationships and friendships, the organization will become even stronger.

In Step Entertainment was started by Mark Gonzales (MSgt/USMC Ret.) while serving on active duty in the United States Marine Corps.  Mark has more than 15 years experience specializing in weddings, anniversaries, school events, clubs, military functions, corporate and prive parties.

As one of the premier Bassists of our time, Keith has a unique style with a wide range of technical abilities. His style can range from soft and sensual to rough and gritty. He has a large catalog of compositions which often reflect the smooth sounds of contemporary jazz layered with brilliant melodies that will last a lifetime.

MARYLAND LINE DRUM & FIFE CORPS
The Maryland Line & Drum Corps, which serves as the Field Music of Jackson's Stonewall Brigade, was founded in 2005 to honor the Americans who served during the Civil War, by recreating as accurately as possible the look and sound of the drummers and fifers who served and fought for the independence of the South.

MARANATHA TOURING CHOIR

The Maranatha Touring Choir is an Interdenominational Christian Choir which began in 1972 and is currently composed of young members from more than 40 churches, 15 schools, 10 colleges and universities and home-schooling families. The Maranatha Touring Choir has performed in over 130 cities, in more than 30 states and Canada with some 2,000 young people and over 100 adult leaders participating -- including generations of families.

The Mike Lucci Band brings together decades of musical experience and passion to form one of Richmond's finest Chicago-style Rockin' Rhythm and Blues bands. Formed in September 2008, this quintet has taken their sound to various cities around Virginia, Washington DC, and even to Memphis,
TN for the International Blues Challenge. From their sultry ballads to their toe tapping shuffles, this dynamic band will have you dancing the night away.

N2N is a Rhythm and Blues (R&B)/Funk Band that resides in Northern Virginia. N2N originated in 2002 with five talented musicians who had 25 years of experience playing and singing R&B and Gospel music. Three additional members were added in early 2003 to form the eight member band that performs under the name of N2N today.  The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, Maze, Mary J. Blige, Maxwell and other R&B legends and modern artists influence N2N.

We are a dedicated group of Therapy Dog teams serving the Rappahannock, Stafford, Spotsylvanina, and Fredericksburg area. We provide animal-assisted therapy to many people in health facilities, shelters, schools and libraries. Teams also participate in parades, health and educational fairs and exhibits. Most of our teams have been Therapy Dog teams for over 5 years and have experience in many different environments.

The Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society was created to preserve the lives
of 18th century citizens who thrived in the local area. The Society’s members research the customs, clothing, politics and pleasures of the colonial era.

   

SOUND ADVICE QUARTET

 
SOUND ADVICE QUARTET
Mile 2 (Water Point 1)
Sound Advice often performs on shows, gives customized performances at various meetings and functions, and even delivers singing Valentines, Christmas cards and Birthday cards - in person or over the telephone. Sound Advice has been singing together since 1999, and is the 2010 champion for SAI Region 14. All four members are also Vienna-Falls chorus musical leaders and even coach other choruses and quartets throughout the region. Yet through it all, all four have managed to remain married to their first husbands, all of whom are left-handed. What are the odds of that?

Stardust is a resident of the Patriot Paint Horse farm in Stafford, VA, who was rescued by her handler Claire Marble, through the United States Equine Rescue League. Stardust is a frequent visitor to local children’s hospitals, senior centers, patient's homes and MCM events!

SYC ALL-STAR CHEERLEADERS

The SPRINGFIELD/SOUTH COUNTY YOUTH CLUB was founded in 1962 with the goal of promoting fitness, character development, good sportsmanship, and exemplary behavior through athletic programs for children, ages 4 – 18. The SYC All-Star cheerleaders represent the club at special events and performances throughout Fairfax County and the surrounding communities, and are excited to be celebrating SYC’s 50th anniversary this year. This past summer, the SYC All-Star cheerleaders won Dance Champion and Camp Champion at the UCA Cheer camp they attended in Williamsburg. In the fall, they had a great time representing SYC at Nickelodeon’s World Wide Day of Play in Washington, DC.

The pulsating rhythms of 99.3, known as "The Vibe" and as Fredericksburg's #1 hit music station, will include music from Beyonce, Rhianna, Justin Timberlake and Jamie Foxx on the Historic Half course.  The station will energize runners along the historic course.

Mile 3.5 on Williams St. and Blue-Gray Pkwy
The Winding Creek African Ensemble is dedicated to studying and performing vocal and percussion music from the many cultures of Africa.  This ensemble is selected at random each year via a lottery.  

   
 

YOPW

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF PRINCE WILLIAM
Mile 6 on Washington Ave.
The Youth Orchestras of Prince William (YOPW) offers an exceptional orchestral program for the youth of our region.  YOPW began as a single orchestra in 1981 and now has grown to include three string orchestras, two full orchestras, and a wind symphony.

The Home of "Real Country Variety" will get the country party underway on Cowan Blvd along the Historic Half course.  Runners will enjoy music from Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift and many more of today's country artists.
